  • SampleTank3 - not happy in Sonar?

I just bought the new SampleTank3 and now feeling it was a very poor move.  It doesn't play nicely in Sonar at all.  Clicking on a note in PRV with ST3 in place causes the note to go into MIDI feedback, (or the note sample holds for no apparent reason).  When playing a simple sequence of notes some play, some don't. This is random, i.e. when I replay, notes that were silent now sound and vice versa. Those that don't play show on the track meter as playing. Odd. I've experimented with changing latency (ASIO drivers, Hammerfall interface) to no avail. I don't get such behaviour with any other application like this, e.g. Halion Sonic.

Has anyone else bought/upgraded to SampleTank3 and found everything ok? if so, what could I be missing here?

Edit: Just tried it in Studio One 2 and it works perfectly...

Hi Skyline_UK
Yep, same behavior here. Gotta love early software versions...

Thanks Dean.
Hrmph. You'd think they'd have tested it with all major DAWs; it's been long enough in the gestation.
I've raised a ticket with IK. I'll post anything of interest.

I wouldn't worry about that, if they get a bunch of disgruntled emails there will likely be a fix forthcoming.

I doubt this will fix it, but try Preferences > MIDI  > Playback and Recording, and under playback, increase the size of the MIDI buffers.

I get this clicking on a note sustains forever behavior with the VST3 ST3, but VST2 works fine.

THIS, after "10 years in the making" you would think it would be 100% perfect.

Yeah, it looks like (at least for me) the problems only exist in the vst3 version. Like Drew, I'm not getting the PRV sustain problem, and I'm not seeing dropped MIDI either.

I switched to vst (removed vst3) for now and the problem went away.

Same here.  When I freeze the track sounds reappear.  If any of you have the previous versions of Sampletank, I wouldn't delete them. That's the advantage of having a DAW with it's own bitbridge.

I've had in the past where IK plugs and Sonar don't work well.  I can't remember if it was the DXi or VST versions. If I necessarily need to use the plug, I opened it up in another DAW.
