VST3 or VST2?

On the other hand I think the new sounds in ST3 are quite good!!

Let's hope they figure it out. In the meantime it seems using VST 2 is the workaround for now. I thought I was clever and decided to skip installing the VST 2 version and go straight for the VST 3 version...

I have had a few VST3 versions of software have issues so I tend to install both.

 Find the vst3 dll. (Mine was in C/Program Files/Common Files/VST3). Rename it (I added .bak to the end). Run the install again if you didn't select vst to install the first time. Rescan your plugins.

I don't have another VST3 synth. NI, East West and other I have are all still VST2. So what are the advantages of using VST3 in ST3.

ST 2 wasn't my cup of tea, I don't expect ST 3 to be any better..... I know it is expensive relative to ST but KONTAKT is my goto RAMPLER.... great engine, great scripts and oh so many sample libraries.

The problem I am having with ST3 is opening saved Sonar project files. If I've used a piano at all in ST3 and save the file, it just won't re-open in Sonar full stop. Might try dropping the VST3 and see what happens.

I get better results after I installed the VST2 version.
I had a response from IK Support this morning saying:-
 
"All of the issues being reported in the forums are being fed back to our Development team so that they can be incorporated in the next maintenance release. They are trying to correct these issues as quickly as possible."
 
 
That's probably some weeks away, so using the VST2 version for now is the only route.

In my experience VST3 in X3 only seem to add stability issues.  I removed the VST3 versions of several VSTis some time ago.
