  • Loop recording - "restart" shortcut?

Hi! (:
Does anyone know, if there's a shortcut for restarting record from the beginning when in "Loop recording" mode?
That is to drop current take and start new one, without waiting for the whole loop to complete?
I checked in help to no avail, I also naively tried pressing R or Ctrl+R or Home during recording - that didn't work, ha-ha! (:
I use loop recording a lot and the fact that I need to press [Space] , [Ctrl]+[Home] , [R] every time I want to discard take early is messing up with my concentration and mental health just a little bit.
Of course, any musician, who respects himself, should train to do such key sequence perfectly in no time, even using only left hand (because holding guitar with right), but problem is that this switches your subconsciousness to playing computer keyboard, which is totally different beast of a music instrument.
I would still put up with that, but problem is that maddening effect of such exercise makes me hit keyboard pretty hard, and I begin to worry about my keyboard, which sets me off so much that I normally mess one or more next takes as well.
I would accept that too, but yet another problem is that I later find some speech intros like "...bastards!!!" in the beginning of best takes.
And that still could be fine! But problem, yet again, is that I come to like these intros and want to keep them, but they do not work well with lyrics, of, say, love ballad.
Anyways, may be someone knows some magic spell that allows to reset take with single key-combination?
Thanks in advance!
p.s. Have a super weekend everyone!

Complex scripting can be performed with the utility AutoHotkey. In this example, Windows-R would perform the keystrokes [Space] , [Ctrl]+[Home] , [R]:
#r:: send {Space}^{Home}r

My (non professional) approach to solve that problem would be:
  • reduce the number of commands to 2, setting "On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker". Setting the Now marker to the loop start (with Ctrl+Home) before recording.
  • or, follow AutoHotkey advise from scook
  • or, ... get something like http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/FCB1010.aspx and use it with my plug-in to trigger the sequence of commands using your lag, at least your keyboard is safe then

Another +1 for Autohotkey.  This is an indispensable tool for a lot of things, but shortcutting s few things in Sonar is something I've used before.  I had a short script some time back that used Autohotkey to go to the preferences and adjust the latency either up several clicks or down several clicks with two different shortcut keys, so I could easily switch to high latency for mixing or low for recording with a single keypress.

Just spend a little time and I'm sure you can find a number of uses for things in Sonar.
