When I switched over to my new DAW hardware I finally committed to Sonar X3 retiring 8.5.  I've invested a fair amount of time figuring out how to use the new features and finding the ones that I use.
I've been editing MIDI in the track view rather than the PRV.
My only difficulty is the inability to set an arbitrary grid resolution.  I'd be happy if I could get the track:MIDI view to follow the current snap resolution (as the PVR view does).  I'd settle for the ability to stop auto scaling the resolution based on magnification.
I've been through the docs and the forums and this doesn't seem possible.
I was going to suggest it but currently that part of the Cakewalk system is turned off.

If I have missed something please let me know.  I have my reasons for using track:MIDI over PRV view.
thanks in advance

To stop scaling the resolution based on magnification, right-click on the note value below the smart grid button and uncheck "Smart Grid."

I'm able to snap to grid in MIDI tracks, both when entering notes with the pencil and moving the now time. Not sure why you can't but I can vouch for the fact that it's possible.

When Smart Grid is on Smart Grid dynamically changes the snap value based on magnification.  I get that.  It does not affect the drawing of the grid either way.

I am talking about the drawing of the grid not the snap value.
When I am zoomed in horizontally there are 16 grid divisions between quarter notes.  I just want to see eight notes or quarter note triplets or whatever.  Even if I am zoomed in.

Snap functionality works.  I'm not having any problems there.

Thanks for your response but it does not directly pertain to the issue that I am raising.

Okay, when you said resolution I didn't realize you were talking about the visual grid resolution, not the snap resolution.

As far as I know, the visual grid resolution is not editable when working with MIDI inside a track or if it is, I haven't found it.
