Noel, I just wanted to thank you for caring enough to be poking around in user forums at nearly 11:30 PM on a school night.  :)

Noel rocks...and he's not the only one at Cakewalk who does!

But again, I'm glad this thread happened. It helped me figure out a better workflow than what the OP did with 8.5 and I'd been doing with X3...a best of both worlds situation. So the thread can now die, since I got something out of it

I think multiple folks may have gotten things out of this thread.

I did too, in terms of X3e approach, and I believe the OP affirmed what he has been operating with, in that however he got there, product weirdness and all, he has a workflow that meets his needs very well.  The trade off for him is that he will live in a time warp of 8.5.3 (also a very good release), unless he begins a process of finishing all that he can in 8.5.3, and then completes any further project work in X3e or beyond, through project completion.  That may continue to work well for him.

I think it was a good thread, for the most part, once folks settled down a bit and kept it to supportive discussion.

There will always be some left-handed guy playing a right-handed guitar upside down that will shake up the world, a bass player in diapers, a lead singer who cannot articulate, a one-armed drummer, and so on..

Point is that however folks are able to express themselves, in ways that work for THEM, music and art will survive and thrive.

Rock on, OP, rock on.

Eli Krantzbergs video from his groove three for X1 video was my starting point for this. I want to give him a nod.

Here's a video of me trying to demo some of the ideas we've discussed in this thread.

thnx for this, but I had this workaround figured out a few days ago like I mentioned in my previous videos and earlier. This workaround is limited in its applications for my type of workflow. Like I've mentioned clearly many times, I do this on a ton of elements in a single project, I leave it to you to understand how much of a mess it becomes once things need to get a bit more elaborated - thnx for the time though.

No it didn't...

but if you're sure of yourself Show it!
Do it on 6 elements!

I'll show you how I do it on 20.

This is more and more becoming like a script from an old Star Trek TV episode.

I said helped ME figure out a better workflow. Your workflow with 8.5 is not ideal for how I work, nor do I work with loops the same way you do. I create loops from nothing by dragging one-shots in from the browser, and augmenting by recording tracks which are comped - I don't deconstruct existing loops. So what you do with 8.5 is not relevant to how I work. However, the tips helped me figure out a way to improve on what I do with X3.

I think the whole point is/was to maximize the work flow is it works best for the individual.

Each person can have their own favorite ways of doing things.

I believe it is called 'Free Will'.

No point in locking horns on any of it.  :)

Well, we could have a massive tangent about Newtonian determinism vs quantum probability in a loop-editing context. That'd liven things up.
