I just got a copy of NI Komplete and was playing with Battery last night. According to the UI in Battery the first row is mapped starting at C1, the second row starts at C2 and so on. I went to the piano roll view to punch in a couple simple parts and noticed that I wasn't getting any sound at all. After a bit of fiddling I found that C3 in X3 played C1 on Battery, a 2 octave difference.
So now I'm really confused, a lot of soft synths that I have end up playing a lot lower than I would expect but others sound fine and sending midi to a real keyboard seems to trigger the right notes.
Is this an issue with Sonar or with Battery?
Is there a tool that can be inserted between a midi track and a soft synth to verify which notes are actually being sent?
Is there a setting I need to fiddle with to get the right notes?

The FX Chord Analyzer MFX shows which note is played on a keyboard display. There is a setting in Preferences > Customization > Display called "Base Octave for Pitches" to adjust the display see http://www.cakewalk.com/D...help=Dialogs2.073.html

Thanks for that. By setting the base octave to -2 only changed the note names so now note #36 is C1 instead of C3, that makes the piano roll view line up nicely. It doesn't change anything in the staff view, other than the note name. The actual pitch stays the same.
