In console view you can select if you want or dont want Tracks, Buses or Mains visible but any change to these options causes the Mains to disappear and you have to manually reselect and resize as you like. Same thing happens if you close console view or close and open a project.
Am i missing something here?

if your not to familiar with the views in x2 they can be a little confusing.
but to simplify things imagine the track view as your main view, this view is always there no matter what.
the other parts are added in, like console view, inspector, browser.

when you open console view, its always going to be in the dock.
you can toggle the docks view by pressing D, you will see the dock disappear and reappear.
press I and the inspector will be hidden, same with B for the browser.
anyway I think what might be happening with you is anytime you change a view sonar will revert back to its default view.

so try this.
set up sonar the way you like it with your console view and what not.
now click on the screensets tab and click on the lock button.
this will lock the view just how you want it.
if you make future changes, just simply press the lock again and then relock it.
because anytime you change views sonar will revert to its default view again.

further more this can also be detailed piece by piece by clicking on the modules tab in the console view.
clicking this button will allow more detailed customization for modules, tracks, busses + mains.
as does the "Strips" tab.

Can anyone tell me how to hide the Mains I am not using?  I can hide individual tracks and buses, but, I have 6 separate Mains and it seems that either they are all visible or none.  What am I missing?

One way is to allow only the main outs you want to show by adjusting the size of the mains pane view.

note to Charlie nicely said above.

You can also uncheck the mains outs in the preference menu.
