Wibbles
Violin or fiddle, when you live in a terrace house and it's in the hands of the young boy who lives next door, it is an instrument of torture.

Hi,

Some good ones over the years:

Darryl Way (Curved Air) (and best with cannons of course)
Chris Karrer (that one German band Bapu does not love!)
Grahame Smith (McKendree Spring, String Driven Thing, Van der Graaf Generator)
Jean Luc Ponty
Charlie Daniels
Doug Kersahw
Itzhak Perlman
Isaac Stern (watch the film goes to China)
Yehudi Menuhin (with Ravi Shankar specially!)
Papa John Creech
Eddie Jobson
David LaFlamme
Laurie Anderson
Mauro Pagani (PFM)
Nash, the Slash
Ray Shulman
Dave Swarbrick
Magdalena Hagberg

Just to name a few ... I'm not sure we should ask them about the difference in the name of the thing!

Only the classicals do not list in my collection, though they do at parent's home in classical music.

Loved celtic/bluegrass fiddle since I heard this when I was 11;

Two of my favourite fiddlers, Aly Bain & John McCusker, playing some reels together;

The brilliant Duncan Chisholm;

Seth Lakeman....

Love the counter melodies and note choices in Alison Krauss' playing on this one;

Here's a group called The Gloaming. I really like their material, although they sing in Gaelic so I don't understand it.

Fiddle starts at around 5:10 and picks up at around 9:30

I don't know if it'd be authentic but it would sound more complete with an acoustic bass.  That was enjoyable.

It's all mainly what you do with that bow thingie. Like a golf club. Give one to Tiger Woods and good things will happen. Give one to a beginner and...well....
The smallest nuances make all the difference. Bow speed, pressure during the stroke ( please don't quote that in any other context). You get my drift, or am I drifting?

Do you prefer more pressure, or less pressure during the stroke? Fast or slow blow speed?

Sorry typo, *bow.
