  • What's a recent hardware purchase that's made your life easier in your studio? (p.5)

I do enjoy the flexibility of "TotalMix" with the UFX; was the upgrade a "life changer" over the i/o of the FW?
I really don't think so.
Ultimately can I run with slightly lower latency; pretty much.
Maybe the improved AD cleans up the mix, IF you are using lots of live tracks.
The way I work, a few guitar tracks, a few vocal tracks; I'm not sure its huge.

Probably the most useful recent addition was a 500GB SSD in an eSATAp case for Komplete, Addictive Drums/Keys, Maschine and other sample content. It hooks up to my laptop with just the eSATAp cable and on my desktop I can use eSATA and USB power or just USB3. Very useful!

My wife's new tablet.
Part of that deal was that I got her massively underused 64 bit W7 PC.
This replaced the Vista laptop that I had been getting by with for a while.
My studio is a much happier place.

Not that recent but the last thing was a "Quiet" case. Essential for when I'm recording voice overs for videos.

The difference it made was so great I had to check that the computer was booted when I first started it.

An Ibanez as 103 ( halfacoustic guit),
since I record with that really nice piece of wood
I don´t need much editing/ miking aso to get the guit sound I like and need.

1. Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (great preamps for vocals and Telecaster)
and, as documented in my recent thread...
2. Yamaha HS5 near field monitors

Mine is also the Kemper Profiling Amp!
In regards to your description above, is there any latency re-amping back through the spdif? As it felt like there was a little doing it through the analog circuitry.

Regards
Lee

No latency here, everything locks right up.
Might be due to the additional conversion steps of d/a -> a/d into your audio interface?

A pair of Adam F7 monitors after years of using Behringer "Truths". WOW what a difference - more enjoyable mixing process and mucho better results!
