  • Upgraded Sonar 8.5 to X3 then to X3 Studio - Can I unintall 8.5 and X3 safely?

Making use of recent offers I did the upgrades stated in the title.
I was expecting / hoping that previous versions would be uninstalled leaving only X3 Studio.
That wasn't the case and I now have all 3 versions taking up valuable space on my SSD.
Can anyone tell me whether I can safely uninstall 8.5 and X3 without removing anything useful from X3 Studio?

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Cactus Music,
I think that most of your reply is missing. Can you please repost?

Thanks

You don't need to remove them. Just run studio, you'll be fine. Unless your OS is on a 2gb hard drive, you'll just cause yourself a bunch of grief trying to uninstall.

Thanks Tom,

Yes I understand what you are saying and why, I am just not keen on leaving stuff around that I am not using. I was curious to know if anyone had done something similar and ended up in a mess (or not). Actually I have saved any projects I made separately and all of the programs and updates were installed using Revo uninstaller so I may uninstall all of them and do a clean install of just Sonar X3 Studio.

Do not forget that you can miss something from 8.5 in case you just install X3 Studio without it. For example, V-Vocal.

But there is no such problem with X3->X3 Studio.

I'd leave them in place. They take up little space, won't interfere with one another and leaves you the option of revisiting old projects in the same version in which they were created. However, you could probably uninstall them and not lose any plugins, since the uninstaller only removes the main folder and the registry keys.

Thanks for all the feedback. Based on the general consensus I think I will leave them all installed.
