(now I know what a few of you are thinking... of course Stutter Edit has clicks... but not that kind of clicks).

With a pseudo-continuous sound fed through iZotope StutterEdit (a shimmering pad), I can hear and see discontinuities. The discontinuities (clicks) are roughly every "gesture length". So, if I hold down a gesture that has a "1 bar" length, individual stutters don't have the click, but at the gesture length (1 measure) it does. It sounds clearly wrong.

You can hear it here:

You can see it here:

Q1: Anybody else ever experienced this?
Q2: Anybody know how to fix it?

Googling it didn't turn anything up, which makes me wonder if it is the combination of StutterEdit and Sonar. It happens in many Stutter Edit patches, but is not audible in all.

It is not the general ASIO buffer length. It also happens if I freeze or mix down the track.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Mark

Ugh, the forum pulled out my hyperlink. Type this into your browser and you'll be able to hear the file:

Try both the VST2 and VST3 versions. One may work better than the other.

Hi scook,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've used the 32-bit version in the past on a 32-bit machine and noticed the same issues.

Interestingly, I've submitted a support request with Izotope and have received no response. Anybody know of a support forum for Izotope products?

Thanks,
Mark

I don't know if you resolved your problem, but I just had issues with Stutter Edit not playing smoothly while recording, (delaying the triggering of FX and also messing up other tracks while in record mode).

I contacted iZotope support and they got back to me quite quickly. I was basically told to reduce latency, (which I already had done) and shut down all other plugins and pro channel fx - and it made it work perfectly, (despite being a pain to change and freeze a load of channels).

My CPU was fine and had plenty of RAM, but for some reason I guess that it doesn't like running with other plugins...

Thanks for the suggestion tele0n.

However, this is not a latency/playback issue. It's observed in mix-down as well, the other tracks have no issues, and the clicks are associated with gesture length, not buffer length.

Unfortunately, I still haven't heard from iZotope.
