I have a midi track with some NRPN automation going to Alchemy's performance controls.  This is working fine, until I go into another plugin, then it stops working.  It starts again, as soon as I bring up Alchemy again (and will keep working, unless I go into another plugin).
 
Any ideas?

Can you be more specific here? Are you replacing the plugin in the same track. Have you tried multiple plugins? 32 bit or 64 bit plugins?
 
Please make sure you are on X3E and consider doing a VST reset  afterwards if you haven't already.

When I say go into another plugin, I mean open another one's synth page up.  
 
So basically I have two automation lanes setup for Alchemy, and they are working fine, I I can clearly hear the automation working.   Then I open up a different plugins (audio or synth actually) and alchemy's automation stops working.  If I re-open alchemey's synth properties, the automation starts working again.
 
Note that the regular midi note data works the whole time.

I think I fixed the problem by switching from NRPN to just regular CC data.  Still, it shouldn't do that...

I explored NRPN a while ago and found it to be problematic. So when automating synth parameters now, I just create a control on the synth rack, use MIDI learn to map it to my controller, enable automation write, hit play, record the performance and voila, an automation lane is created. The only problem is that your controller mappings are not saved with the project. So if you want to record the performance again some other time, you're going to have to remap them. It's a bug as far as I know. Not a biggie but slightly irritating.
