Hi all, just upgraded my computer. Now though I'm having more problems than I've ever had.
Windows 7 Home premium 64bit
I7 Haswell 3.4 Quad
16 gig ram
256 SSD
1TB audio drive

I'm using a Motu 8 pre firewire sound card. Everything has been updated to the latest drivers, I've re installed sonar and everything that comes with it twice.

My project which I've started having problems with contains :
Addictive drums 2
3 Audio tracks
I have noticed the odd click and pop in other projects I've been working recently also. This confuses me as I thought having a better computer would allow me to bring buffer sizes down etc..I've increased the buffer sizes to see if it has any effect, which it doesn't.
The Audio engine in my projects randomly decides to stop working, if I click to turn it back on as soon as I press play it turns off (it isn't saying audio drop out by the way). It allows me to close (and save) the project but I can no longer select points in the song. Eg If I click on bar 3 is just wont go there, it stays where it has stopped. When I do close sonar it is then unresponsive and its just the blue wheel going round on windows.
If I just open the project and select everything to export to wav, it gets to the very end then gives me a crash dump message.

Can anyone advise on what to do?
If I need to provide anymore system information let me know.

Thanks
Dan

Check windows event viewer for possible clues.
Running X3E?

OK so you have the latest drivers how about firmware?

If you have an Intel machine check here:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

Also save a copy of your project, delete all the plugins and try again. If it works you might be able to rule out a single plugin or particular softsynth. Plugins over your master bus could be particularly problematic.

Hi

I took out addictive drums 2 and it exported okay. Then I put session drummer in and just a quick beat through out and that exported fine also. Next I took the drum parts that I had written via step sequencer with addictive drums and put that data with session drummer, back to %APPDATA%\Cakewalk\SONAR X3 Producer\MiniDumps\Muse style test no ad session drummer 07182014 105144.dmp
Also when it stops and then the marker refuses to move. It is always at bar 37. I exported the project up to bar 36 and it all worked okay. Then I took the drum part away at bar 37 and expanded the one from 36 just to see what would happen. Now it seems to work ok.
Any one had anything similar?
Thanks

Okay another update to this. Just opened another project where I had addictive drums. Same sort of problems, just stops and then I can't move the marker (goes unresponsive etc.) Opened it up again and deleted the addictive drums and now it seems to run the whole track fine. I re-installed addictive drums 1 to see if that made any difference but it doesn't. I never had any problems with AD drums on my older PC.

First check for updates on the XLN installer I suggest. Also try freezing the track.
Are you are running X3E?

Cheers...

Everything is up to date XLN.
Sonar X3e yes. Also this was happening on X3d, updated to X3e when this started happening yesterday.

Tried freezing the track and I get this :

Which is pretty much the same as what I get when trying to export a project.

Make sure you have the 64bit update for Addictive drums and/or the latest for your windows architecture and Sonar's architecture.

It also could be as easy as you just need to raise your ASIO buffers to free up resources. Having it play on your old pc's makes me think its a 64bit issue or an ASIO driver issue. so raise the ASIO buffers and update AD

For the exporting. Maybe you need to unselect fast bounce, if the rasing of your ASIO buffers do not fix it

Yep everything is updated and i've checked that it was all the correct 64bit ones. I raised the buffers and I still get the same result

What are the ASIO settings? try WDM and try raising the playback I/O buffers also

If your MOTU is a Hybrid, install the USB drivers and connect it via USB, if its not already. Then check and shut off any wireless routers connecting your pc to the internet. I would also do a DPC test to see if there is anything.

(In the event viewer right click the red exclamation icon -> Copy -> Copy Details as text and paste here).

Also check and download windows update optional updates (as well as download the latest).

Consider doing a full VST reset.

Some feedback would be good for above... thanks...

You may need to uncheck fast bounce for your Addictive Drums.
