guit rig is usually my last choice. kind if liking Amplitude (With no add on packs). I'd like to pick up the fender pack.
Waves GR3 (I think it's called) has seen some use.
Don't know scuff or bias.

Just wanted to chime in here. I bought both Bias FX (not pro) and Bias Amp (not pro) last Christmas when they were on sale.  I have Line 6 Pod Farm 2.0 and have demoed both Amplitube and Revalver stuff.

I was disappointed a bit in the BIAS stuff in that I don't like the UI and the way you save presets. Since I don't have the pro versions most of the user contributed presets don't work for me and I haven't found a way to filter the ones that would work with my versions. I have been tempted to upgrade to pro but there is never a discount to upgrade it is always $100 no mater what the current sale price is for the Pro Version.

Also with BIAS I find that moving the microphone around doesn't change the sound as much as I would expect or have experienced with a real amp.

I like amplitube and have demoed several of the amps and pedals. I think overall I like this the best but I don't like thinking about always being tempted to buy a new package of amps.

I also demoed scuffman and thought it sounded great without much tweaking.

Of all of these I actually like my POD HD 500 through my real amps and cabs the best and I am not tempted to "re-amp" continually once recorded.

I have been looking at the Line 6 Helix and the Fractal AX8 as upgrade options, though, these are several times more expensive that a PC amp sim.

It's always interesting to me how subjective guitar tone is to folks. My basic take is that you can dial up a perfectly usable tone on most any amp/pedal emu. But guitarists are tweakers. They are opiniated. And how.

I'm looking at BIas FX Pro mostly for the pedals. Probably go ahead and get it. Because, you know, stuff.

My ole pal. You got me thinking a little further than what I was already thinking when I posted.
That is, I'm basically a guitarist and I noticed that I really don't pay too much attention to which sim is better or worse. Or amps, mics or whatever. I just grab something and go. Get the part down. In the end, it doesn't really matter.
Just thinkin.

To me S-gear sounds the best. It lacks some bells and whistles, but the basic tone is there and the only thing it can't do well is modern metal, which I don't often play.

I agree after fiddlin too much on the "sound" side of Sims as i rolled along the learnin' curve for recording what I need to get a demo together.   I loved tweaking for awhile....I mainly stick with Amp4 now if Im not attempting to wrestle my Vox/Marsh combo via live mics ...which I love...but is hectic to keep it consistant when I move stuff about.  My recording space is much smaller that originally anticipated....but Im making do.
I did consider the the Bias....i tried the demo and it was pretty good.....but not over the top for sounds I needed vs the Amp4.   Im sure your gonna be happy with it Olpal .....keep us apprised....I think you like fiddl'n....deff Bass'n around too huh  ;o)  .    I just recently realized the best recorded bass sound I ever got was my Dir Out from my Ashdown vs mic'n it live.....go figure....lol

I've owned all the major hardware amp-sims (Kemper, Axe-FX, AX8, and Helix).
All of these are (IMO) superior to current software amp-sim solutions.
The UI and features of Helix are amazingly well thought out...
If you record guitar/bass and play live gigs, Helix replaces a lot of gear... (cost effective and reduces cartage)

I agree with Jim. I've gone back to using real amps lately, but my Axe-FX II was great and if I needed to record a simulated amp I think I'd pick up an AX8 for the purpose.

I recently did a demo project of the same song with couple of different amp sims vs. the real deal and posted it on my web site so I could share it with a buddy of mine who plays guitar and wanted to hear the difference.  If I still had the Axe-FX I would have done it with that as well.  It is hi-gain stuff, but I think the same applies to the clean and lo-gain sounds as well.  He went down the page; first was TSE X50, which wasn't too bad.  Then came Amplitube, which he liked better.  Finally, he got to the real amps, 5150 III first, which he preferred.  I added in another version with my new Boss Katana, and it was really close to the 5150, but he said he liked the 5150 just slightly more.  The modelers Jim talks about are darn close to the real thing, but the software sims are still lacking a bit to my ears.
