Hello everyone,

I currently run sonar 6 home studio on my laptop and have been thinking about upgrading for a long time, particularly after being emailed several upgrade deals.
I am looking to upgrade to possibly sonar X3 studio but I have big doubts as to whether my laptop (and sound card) could handle the program.

I currently have a Sony Vaio i3 and my processor is an Intel Pentium CPU B970 @ 2.3GHz.
I have 8gb ram so I am not worried about that and the external soundcard I use is an Edirol UA25.
I noticed that the minimum screen resolution is 1200 by 800 but my resolution only goes up to a max of 1366 by 768.

If anyone could please offer me advice regarding the processor soundcard and resolution it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Scott :)

Hi Scott.
I have an identically spec'd HP laptop and UA-25 and X3PE works fine on it.

Hi Lorty,

Thank you for the info and quick reply, much appreciated :)

Are there any issues regarding recording multiple tracks at the same time?

Thanks,

Scott :)

Ooo, I just thought of one more question.

I have always had the hard copy CD for installing however if I was to buy and download X3, is there a limit to the amount of time I could re-download it when wiping my system? I like to reset to manufactures settings from time to time to keep a fairly clean system but would only having a software copy be sufficient? I would prefer a hard copy but not sure if it is more expensive at the mo.

It's about $30 for the disks but while ever Cakewalk is in business you can always refresh the link to the download as necessary for any Cakewalk download products.

Actually quite silly of me, instead I will download and instal the X3 trial. I completely forgot that I could do this.

Thanks again :)

While ever Cakewalks in business you'll always be able to refresh the download link which appears in your online account along with serial numbers and activation codes.

Disks are usually $30 for the set for any version. You can get the download then get the disks later while that version remains for sale.

Thank you mudgel :)

I know they are quite simple questions and once answered appear similarly simple too. I haven't really kept myself up to date with latest technology and instead just spent the long process of learning what I can through using HS 6 and whilst it has been great to use, I now see the limitations for what I would like to do.

Thanks again :)

Hi again Scott,
I have no trouble recording multiple tracks, however, the maximum I have done is 4 audio simultaneously.

I can happily play back at least 24 tracks.

It was a good idea to try the trial version first though.
