I have just tried without success to find any reference to the Menu editor in the X3 manual.

In the old Sonar 8.5 help manual it comes up when you search for “Customizable Menus” or “Menu Editor”. It used to be found under Options.

As the term “customizable menus’ suggests, it’s where you can customize any menu list in Sonar – like hiding menus you never/seldom use, or bringing go-to menus to the top of the list, etc.

Is this option still available in X3?

If you are referring to plug-in layouts they are still supported. They are maintained in the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager. The Cakewalk Plug-in Manager has a separate help file. The only other menu with may be altered in X3 is the Utilities Menu. This article http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013099/Adding-third-party-audio-editing-software-to-SONARs-Tools-menu discusses adding editors but any program can be added to the menu.

You can't customize menus in X3 the same way you could in 8.5. I believe the rationale for including this option in 8.5 was that the menus were getting out of hand in terms of how many items they contained; the X-series added menus within views (e.g., the tabs in Track View that "localize" functions specific to Track View) to reduce clutter. I would imagine that customizing menus would be more complex to implement now because they're now available from more than just the standard Windows menu bar.

I was referring to general menus.
Ok, so now I know.
Thank you Scook and Anderton.

Just curious - Dilaco1 - do you have a music link for any of your stuff?

Thanks for your interest Bob.

I'm not on facebook or soundcloud or anything like that. I do have a website with some jukebox style excerpts of my CDs, but I don't know the forum rules on posting one's own website links. I am happy to if within forum rules to do so.

Folks put song links into the songs forum, generally, HOWEVER, lots of folks include a link to their songs in the Signature section of their Forum Profile.

You see that QUITE often, and doing that is fine for this forum, so PLEASE feel free to add such a link (or 2) to your forum signature, (scroll up and look at Craig Anderton's signature)
