Hi there folks! Long time no see...

I spend more than an year without using Sonar, I was in Reaper (still am), but for some reasons I find myself going back to Sonar, upgrading to version X3 (just did it), and here I am again!!!

I am having a strange issue here, I've installed X3 "over" my old X2 installation and everything went fine, but  the FX Chain plugin... It loads but I can't browse thru my plugins.... It doesn't even opens the browser when I click "Audio FX"... Other similar issue is that I can't organize my plugs either... If I click "manage layouts", nothing happens!!!

Maybe this information could be relevant...: I did the custom install of X3 and didn't install anything that is already installed, e.g. plugins...

Could you guys give a hand on it?

Thanks in advance!

Peace.

I would start by opening preferences and re-scanning plugins.

There have been some odd cases some people have reported where they had one plugin or other that wasn't installed properly and it caused menus to open slowly/haltingly. I'll see if I can find a link to the thread.

The advanced install should not be a problem. The "Manage Layout" function on the menus should launch the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager. After upgrading to X3 was the VST reset and rescan performed? See here for instructions http://www.cakewalk.com/S...ommended-for-Upgraders

Also make sure X3e is running. The update patch is here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...13361/SONAR-X3e-Update

Hmmm... Maybe updating is the key... Because X3 did the scaning pretty well by itself at the time I first run it...

Will try to update, back soon with results...

Thanks.

Yes the scanner is launched automatically but it is necessary to perform a RESET after upgrading to X3 which the normal scan process does not do. May want to follow the instructions provided in the link above.

Reset and rescan is essential. I don't know why, but perhaps it has something to do with Sonar now supporting VST3.

There were changes to plug-in MIDI routing which set some registry entries in the VST inventory. There may be other registry updates related to the new plug-in format, IDK.

Folks, I thank you all!!!

Update the software just have put all things together... (no need, in this case, to re-scan)

FX Chain and Manage Layouts working just fine now!!!
