OK I would go ahead and download the Dim Pro 1.5 setup and Expansion Packs 1-3 files again, with your antivirus temporarily suspended.

Once you are done with the downloads, turn your antivirus back on, then check the MD5 Hash Values of what you just downloaded against what Cakewalk has published for the MD5 Hash Values for those files.

The Cakewalk published MD5 Has Values for X3 are on this page:

http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013359/SONAR-X3-Download-Installation-Instructions

For the above, click on the link at the bottom for X3 Producer to expand the download files, which will also show the MD5 Hash Values for each of the download files.

You can use the following site to generate MD5 Hash Values for each of the zip files you download:

http://onlinemd5.com/

Please do the above and post back.

Instead of comparing download file sizes, validate the files using the md5 hash values provided in the links at the bottom of the download instruction page http://www.cakewalk.com/x3install and a tool like http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/md5sums/ .

I thought I just said that?  :)

I wish I would have skipped all of the earlier dialog and just went to the downloads - we took the long way around to get there.

It was not there when I start my reply or I would not have entered the thread at all. Not sure this is a download problem though as it has followed the user across machines. Just like any re-install, after running the Expansion Pack and DimPro uninstall process, it would be best to clean the registry prior to running the installers again. The DimPro keys are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp

Paul P,

Sonar isn't crashing for me. Some of the multisamples cannot be found.

I appreciate that.  I only mention it since one of the files you listed was "pc_110_fingercymbals.sfz" and that is one of the few I've tried that crash Sonar for me and at least one other person.  It won't crash DimPro standalone, only within Sonar.

Just in case you get things located, only to have Sonar then crash on you...

Bob, I haven't downloaded the files again yet, but I ran the program on my existing files using http://onlinemd5.com/, and I got the following results:

Filename:
04_Dimension_Pro_1_5_Setup.exe
File size:
3,141,067,859 Bytes
MD5 Hash: 86701254801A9889E12545ADB279FDBA

Filename:
04_Dimension_Pro_1.5_Expansion_Packs.zip
File size:
206,461,680 Bytes
MD5 Hash: 806121D5A559B432E80254FE701FD828

These match the MD5 hash values listed on the Cakewalk page, for what it's worth, although my file sizes seem a little larger.

For my own peace of mind, can you, or anyone else, please confirm whether the sounds in your Expansion Pack 2>Grooves library within Dimension Pro actually work for you.

scook, could you please outline what you mean by "cleaning the registry". I have used programs that help with this in the past, but I trust your opinion on how to do this better than I would trust my own best guesswork on the matter.

Thanks again guys.

All the programs I have tested from the Groove library load fine in 64bit DimPro but some programs do not play reliably. I have never used the library for anything other than testing.

There is no need to download the installers again if the hash values are the same as the values posted by Cakewalk.

If you are going to reinstall DimPro and the Expansion Packs, here is a step-by-step approach:
Disable your antivirus software
Uninstall the Expansion Packs
Uninstall DimPro
Delete the two registry keys:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp
Run the DimPro installer as administrator
Run the standalone version of DimPro as administrator and register the synth.
Run the Expansion Packs installer as administrator
Enable your antivirus software
Run DimPro and verify expansion pack install, if needed press F5 to refresh the DimPro program browser.

I have something REALLY wrong with either my computer's OS or with my Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL audio interface at the moment, and I cannot run audio programs, such as Dim Pro or Sonar, without horrific noise from the audio interface.

That's the only reason I haven't tested out the sounds in question with Dim Pro.

Is there anyone in the forum that can test out the presets the OP is asking for help with?  Just to make sure they play OK.

Thanks - I fear I have to go through some monumental PITA process of reloading my computer, and if so, I will likely start that process this morning, and will be away for potentially a couple of days or so, depending on what I have to do.

I guess I could change the options for Dim Pro to use the Windows drivers for sound and see if the presets play properly.  I'll have some coffee and do that before jumping into the other nightmares.

Here is some documentation from the Dim Pro 1.5 help file:

Groove Programs (Dimension Pro Retail Edition Only)
The Dimension programs in the Musical Grooves or Drum Grooves folders contain MIDI patterns that trigger audio patterns in each of these programs and can be dragged into your host project. For example, using Project5, you can drag the MIDI patterns into the Arrange pane, and open them in the Editor if you want to change the cycle of sample triggering in the pattern.
Dimension will alert you with a pop-up balloon when you first load a program that contains a MIDI pattern. In addition, a MIDI pattern icon appears in the top right corner of the multisample window when there's a MIDI pattern ready to drag and drop.

To Drag a MIDI Pattern from Dimension into the host's Track viewOpen a program from the Musical Grooves folder or the Drum Grooves folder.Drag the MIDI pattern icon to your Dimension track in your host application.Double-click or open the pattern in your host to view it in a MIDI editor.Rearrange the notes in the pattern, if you want to trigger the program samples in a different order or rhythm. You can trigger the whole groove with the MIDI note C3, and you can trigger each slice of the groove with the notes C4 going up chromatically. Using the Mod Wheel causes the groove or slice to play backwards (try automating this on a per/slice basis). Also, the notes between C2 and C3 will trigger the groove in different keys. Try using the MIDI pattern from one groove to trigger another groove.

Perhaps the above helps?

I cannot figure out how to get Dim Pro to use anything but ASIO for a driver mode, so I still cannot test things out.

I have just played a few of the Musical and Drum Grooves. There are hundreds of them. All of the ones I tested loaded. DimPro did not reliably play some the Drum Grooves between C2-C3 (with or without mod wheel). Instead the synth would lockup and require shutting down SONAR from the Windows task manager. The Musical and Drum Groove slices, MIDI pattern and C3 seemed to work OK.
