So if it occurring in stand-alone mode, then the issue is outside of Sonar.

Can you trigger sounds from any other stand-alone synths?

Yes it will trigger and i think i got it but i don't know how or why because i did the exact same thing twice. I uninstalled everything, rebooted and reinstalled it again....Problem solved, so it seems. Again though, I tried this already with no luck......Windows i guess, some kind of garbage in there somewhere. My next rig is going to be a Mac.

Question: would it be beneficial for me to upgrade to X3, I am nowhere near a pro, I just do some home tracking with friends and do collaboration work?

I am not quite sure what your status is here - can you please let me know if things are OK now, or do we need to continue to dig into things?

Thanks,

It seems to be working fine now. Just strange that I did the exact same thing as before, but before it did not work.

Well - that's close enough to count for good news, I suppose ????  (hope so anyway)

It would seem so.

Kind of stumped on the remedy though.

And thanks for helping out.

I was happy to help - those kinds of problems can drive you crazy.

I am fighting demons in my system as well - I have had a perfectly functioning Presonus audio interface for 3-4 years now, and a monster computer to go with it, and all of a sudden a few days ago, certain synths somehow cause the interface to completely freak out and it produces this piercingly loud white noise.

I have removed and installed drivers again, and changed just about everything I can think of, to no avail.

And yet, if I assign it to be my Windows default audio device, it plays songs and sounds with no trouble.

Sooooooooooooo, i COMPLETELY understand how maddening things can get.  Because it happens to me too, it motivates me to help others when I can.

I am VERY happy you are, for whatever reason, able to trigger your sounds and get back to doing things you have been wanting to do.

Good luck,

Bob Bone
