Well, it's my embarrassing every-few-weeks-baffled thread again :)
 
I just bought Kirk Hunter Pop Rock Strings (and also Spotlight Strings) during the recent sale. There are features called PatternMaker and Easy String Arranger in Pop Rock Strings that I would like to use within Sonar X3e and Kontakt 5.
 
I have a song in Sonar X3 that varies in tempo from verse to bridge to chorus. I would like to add some Kirk Hunter patterns to the song but can't figure out how to get them to sync in Kontakt.
 
I've read lots about slicing and time machine pro and lots of steps to take before actually making any music. Then, if the first pattern doesn't suit, you have to start all over with the slicing and dicing so that you can hear if the second pattern works when heard with your song. And, to tell the truth, I really don't follow even all of that well.
 
It seems confusing and complicated. Isn't there a way to somehow just click some kind of "Follow Host Tempo" button somewhere and be able to play along to experiment with which runs and phrases might sound well in my song?
 
I wrote to Kirk Hunter and he very kindly responded. He said it is very easy to do but I needed to look at the Kontakt 5 sync tutorial. I've been looking for them and at them all day and either haven't found the right tutorial or just don't understand what to do.
 
I think I'm way out in left field here. Could someone steer me in the right direction?

It's that every other Kontakt library I have has some kind of Sync button or command somewhere. Here, there seems to be no such button. Mr. Hunter, in reply to me on YouTube, just said it was simple and to check the Kontakt sync video. So it seems to be that I have to make it follow the song tempo using only the Kontakt 5 interface.

I am by NO means a Kontakt expert, and also do not ever work with patterns, so in trying to assist you this is COMPLETELY new ground for me.
 
I will do what I can to help, in any case - just please temper your expectations, so that I don't disappoint you with struggling.  :)
 
I DID do a little digging, for any tutorials on using sync and slices and dices and such, and will read up on everything I can find first thing in the morning.  It is currently just after 2:00 in the morning, and I have been up for about 20 hours, so I am off to bed here momentarily.

I have no experience with their site as of yet, BUT I did go ahead and sign up for the series, giving them my email and name.  I figure even if it is some crazy bunch of stuff they send, it would be easy enough to cancel or block, or filter.

I haven't checked the other tutorials but here is probably the best tutorial you can get with Kontakt in my opinion, well worth time and effort (costs a few dollars though):

@SkinnyBones Groove3 does cover slicing and dicing pretty comprehensively, and syncing. I went through them all last week coincidentally.

As far as slicing and dicing is concerned it works but not that great in my view. I find the wave editor quite buggy and restricted. I think I much prefer battery for this sort of thing.

CakeAlexS, the Groove 3 tutorials are great but they don't cover what I want to know.
 
I don't want to slice loops and use a knob to carefully sync Pattern #1 to the host tempo by hitting play at exactly a certain measure and tick, and then have to start the whole process again to check out Pattern #2, and then the whole process again for each of several hundred other patterns. That's my difficulty with all of this.
 
Like with all my other Kontakt 5 libraries, I want to audition many loops or patterns, one after the other, in a fun and creative way, so that I can select something that sounds good within the context of my song, then record it. Once that's done, I want to audition the next pattern or loop and continue to build the strings track for my song.
 
That's why I'm asking for some other way of managing this, if it exists.
 
I'm going through the links that Bob Bone sent me, hoping some light will eventually penetrate my dim brain, and I'll realize the quick and easy solution that I should have realized all along!
