I am getting a bit frustrated with technology interrupting my creative process. Specifically being able to sit down and quickly multitrack parts on top of each other while looping and hearing the last track I laid down seemlessly without having to stop the transport and start on a new lane or track. What I want is an experience like using a looping pedal. There have been many threads on here about not being able to hear just what you played when looping (and no, sound on sound option does not do this unless you stop the transport and start a new record process). I love being able to use my midi footswitch to quickly record /undo clips i record when I use the looper module in Guitar rig or with the mobius vst plugin (another looping plugin), but both these plugins suffer from crash/sync/bug issues that make them a pain as well. What are your tricks to getting this experience? Are there better looping plugins for Sonar? Is there another DAW which can be set up like the looping experience I am looking for?

Th2 also has a looper I have used, but I still prefer my hardware boss looper.

I'm just starting to experiment with Ableton Live using the Akai APC20 ($99 package from GuitarCenter). I'm getting pretty close to the hardware experience and ReWire lets me stream the results into Groove Clips in Sonar. I also upgraded my MPD18 (16-pad drum input) with an MPCStuff kit. Live is pretty fun, but the combination of Live and Sonar is going to be very productive for me...I can tell.
