So everytime I post in a thread, it automatically subscribes me to it and my email gets flooded with notifications. I tried following the steps to remove the subscriptions, but it doesnt stop new subscriptions from automatically happening.
 
In the past on a similar forum that had this, I marked the notifications as junk. I was instantly banned by the forum for doing so, and I have no idea how they would even find out I had marked their hundreds of emails as junk in the first place, so obviously I dont want that happening again.

In your User Control Panel are you subscribed to forums, rather than individual threads? Never had the problem myself, so guessing at an answer.

In addition to what James said, you really should be only subscribing to one particular Fred........just don't read it before bedtime.

Nope, it auto subscribes to any thread I make a post in.

That would have been the reason why, I have now unchecked it.
