I have a Mackie ProFX 22 that has a USB function for sending audio out to Sonar 8.5 but i cannot figure out how to set up Sonar to receive the data.  I have downloaded all the drivers but nowhere in Sonar is my Mackie device listed as a compatible input source.  I am running Sonar 8.5 on a 64 bit Win7 computer and the Mackie is set as the default input and output source.  Can anyone suggest a possible solution?

According to this page http://www.mackie.com/products/profx22/ there is no driver required for the mixer. It would be running as a class compliant device so it is probably not going to show up as an ASIO device. What driver modes have been tried?

Well in the drop down window where you can select input source per track, the options i have showing available are:

1. none
2. selected track input series...
3. selected track inputs...
4. motu audio asio (what i normally record audio thru but would much rather go direct from the mixer if i can)

Choices 2 and 3 both have fly out option windows but everything points to Motu.  In the audio section under options, the only drivers listed for input and output are either Motu or "general low latency asio"  but then if the mackie doesnt require drivers, it wouldnt be listed here would it?  Currrently, ALL the Motu drivers are selected for both input and output.  Should i be selecting the only other option?  General Low Latency Asio?
 

It may be the "general low latency ASIO" but that sounds like something Cubase would install. If it is the generic ASIO driver then uncheck the MOTU I/O in order to select the other ASIO driver. Remember, the ASIO specification permits only one I/O driver to be used at a time. I suspect it is not an ASIO device and requires changing the Driver Mode in addition to the driver settings. In Audio > Options click the Advanced tab to see the Driver Mode drop down in the Playback and Recording section.

As a matter of fact, I do also have Cubase installed on this same computer.  Also the generic low latency ASIO input and output drivers are greyed out in the options section so i can't really select them anyway.  
Now... under the Driver Mode drop down, i have these choices:

1. WDM/KS
2. WASAPI
3. ASIO (currently selected)
4. MME (32 Bit)

Should i be using a different selection here?

The other ASIO option is greyed out because the MOTU is selected. As noted above, only one ASIO driver may be selected at a time. In order to switch ASIO drivers both the input and output of the current driver must be deselected. Deselecting the MOTU will make both ASIO drivers available. Which of the other driver modes is going to work? It is best to try them all. MME is usually the last choice because it is the poorest performer.
