I think you need to contact Cakewalk or XLN; the upgrade is supposed to upgrade all your content.

I often buy s. Cakewalk sells without understanding what I'm getting.

Like once I bought the license to be able to use the CA2A in other DAWs without realizing that was what I was buying. I already had it for the Cakewalk ProChannel. I thought it was some kind of upgrade.

Just gave my money away that time. Life is harder when you're as dumb as me. Thank your lucky stars!

Off topic but just so you know I'm pretty sure the VST version of the CA2A has a sidechain option that the PC version doesn't so you did get a bit of extra functionality. Also I know you do a lot of tracking in other DAWs for live stuff but am unsure how much mixing you do in other environments but to me it is such a good plug it's nice to have the option.

I however got it for "free" with one of the $20 coupons and I think the upgrade was on sale at the time too. I'd say it's worth 20 bucks for the extra versatility (if you like the plug). If you paid more than that though and don't REALLY need the extra options then yeah... it's not the greatest deal. That's why I didn't bother with it until I could basically get it for free and even then I was debating it because there were some other interesting things I could have gotten or saved some money on (like the Concrete Limiter but I struck gold by waiting for that and getting it on sale for $20 too... lol).

Just trying to make you feel better about your purchase. Cheers.

Maybe you are thinking of the original PC-2A which did not have a side chain input. Functionally the CA-2A PC and VST versions are identical. Both have side chain inputs.

I'm confused. Isn't that what I said... or was there a free update to the PC2A that tossed in the sidechain without me realizing?

Oh... I see now. When I said the PC version I meant the original. Not the CA-2A PC module. Just poor wording.

Cheers.

If you already have other ADPaks, it makes perfect sense to just get the upgrade rather than buy one pak for AD2 and just get that one pak.

I apologize to everyone for my lousy mood. Please forgive me.

When I get home I'll post what I own related to ad. They were registered to the same account. Basically, ad1, ad2, jazz sticks for ad1 and the new one for ad2.

When I use other apps to record it is either on Linux or rme digicheck. I don't get to use the vst version on ca2a. Just a mistake to buy it.

I'm not that great at using the drum programs so spending on ad2 will likely prove a good thing. I shouldn't gripe. It is nice the stuff is being created at all.

Honestly the included AD sounds good and is easy to use but it doesn't offer as many options in regards to routing and other stuff as my copy of BFD Eco (so it's a full version of a program being compared to a limited version of the other). Also I am somewhat addicted (no pun intended) to Platinum Samples drum packs because they sound sooooo good and there is a ton more choice compared to the specific XLN produced packs.

XLN Addictive Drums was going to be the sampler I bought to replace Session Drummer (which is nice but didn't work for the fancy ultra nuanced stuff I like to write) until I was turned on to BFD. So personally I would rather upgrade from Eco to BFD2 (if I can still find a boxed upgrade somewhere) and still have access to my Platinum Samples packs as opposed to upgrading to AD2. I kind of find their new website, installer, reg, marketing stuff to be weird and confusing too (and I don't seem to be the only one who thinks so based on this thread) which is a bit of a turn off. I had a heck of a time just creating an account and getting AD installed.

The ONE (or technically two) ADpaks that I am however interested are the JazzPaks but I'm sure I could find suitable alternatives using BFD and its more open policy in regard to third party samples.

As far as having access to all those different MIDI files to trigger it all... well I do like how AD handles that and kind of like the included beats better but I usually write/play my own drum parts and if I wanted a MIDI beat generator I think my money would be better spent on something like JamStix. I like the idea of setting variables and getting a live feel for my more improvisational work... particularly blues and jazz stuff. Static beats don't inspire much creativity.

As far as the CA2A on Linux... I was under the impression that some of those Linux DAWs did have VST support to a certain extent but I'm guessing that being a Cakewalk product that despite it being VST it might still require windows to run which is a drag. I don't know how such things work though.

And your mood is fine. I think I've been far crankier the past couple days. Too many shiz disturbing sock puppets on the forum and extraordinary temperatures closer to home I guess.

You're good shiz, G. Don't ever change.

Cheers.
