ok, haven't read much of the thread yet but I pretty much made 90% of my music smoking really good marijuana...maybe 8% on meth and the rest while on  coke. I had a bad meth habit for  awhile when I was depressed after loosing my first company, it  kept me awake  and allowed me to function. I was a young coke addict for a few years in my youth for no reason but i made a few songs on it. Marijuana is my love and I use her for creativity and  try not to smoke too much so i don't have to beat myself up over it...moderation is key...if you eat toooo many twinkies you will die. - SLF imho

Kudos to you for pulling out of that one - I'm sure that wasn't easy!

I've never taken meth but I did do some straight ahead speed in my youth and I'm pretty sure attempting to make music on it leads to horrors like this:

Hi,

The only thing I would attempt and do music with, or write (which I have done many times), is the psychedelic ... and the rest ... just not for me.

Why?

Going back to Huxley, and many others, it helps one see more of the inside than what we know, and (sometimes) incapable of knowing for whatever reasons, from fear to paranoia to simple religious bruhaha, to social constraints, you name it.

It is, an individual trip, and the drug is not the problem, EVER. The person taking is, and how they look at it, and handle it, is the difference. Some folks just take themselves too seriously and are afraid to find that there are hundreds of closets and closets of memories that you would rather not even look at any more. You really do not have to look at them again, it is just like a "forgive and not forget", except that the forgetting is now, no longer a bothersome memory, but something that you can use to inspire yourself out from similar things.

The harsher and harder part of this all, was the media thing about these things, and how it made a point of convincing you how bad it was ... instead of telling you what a dead end a religious this or that was, in contrast. The typical sort of thing that is used in recovery places to try and help folks ... you take them off one path and put them on another, and hope they can swim, or paddle their way through it, and of course, many will fail, and fall over, because that is not "their" path, and not something they can derive any valuable help from. You could consider it a guide, but at an impressionable moment, you will rarely think of it as a helper, and folks around you only want to "convince you" of something better ... like the book, or whatever.

The only answer and the only good process for it all ... is YOU. You have everything you need to get past it, and if you take that desire deep enough, it will work, and you will get at the source and resolve it. Of course, the same could be said for doing it, or taking it, and again, that is a matter for you to work on, not me, even as a suggestion.

I have a friend that can help you with your goal Dave.  If I sent him up to visit you, you wouldn't have enough of your stash left to overdo things.
