The whole concept is annoying.  It certainly doesn't "save" any daylight, it just moves some from morning until evening making Mondays that much more fun to get up for! 
 
The only reasoning I ever heard had to do with farmers, which is nonsense.  Then they extend it to a much large portion of the year - why?
 
Just pick one of the two times and stick with it!

DST is very confusing if you are in AZ, as they are the only state that doesn't observe it.

At least they didn't delete the time zone to your East moving your day up 1 hour so that DST is actually 2 hours off like they did for us (remember Yukon time?). On the "brighter" side, we're now 1 hour closer to the rest of the world.
 
When I worked nights I'd get to see the sun rise around 6AM this time of year only to set the clock ahead and wait 1 week to see it rise again at 6AM. It felt like going back in time and reliving that week. Depressing. But not for long. After Equinox we gain over 7 min. a day until the Solstice when the "sun never sets" (true DST midnight here is 2AM).
 
Even so, to me it makes absolutely no difference what time "they" say it is... I'll still be 5 min. late.

Indiana decided to go to DST 10-15 years ago. We did just fine without it for the last 185 years before that. The governor gave some BS story of why it was a great thing. To me, it's still just BS....

I remember sometimes being on three time zones at the same time.  Local, Port and GMT - each being a reference for different activities/systems.  We also did 6 on, 12 off for months at a time.  That's how I ended up with gray ears
