The threads are always so predictiable.

Hardware related issues end in insults.

There's always someone who says the hardware isn't.

Next is the gamer with boutique hardware who say they aren't having issues. Making their specs known. That's always productive. It's like saying my dick is bigger than yours. (who cares?)

Next is the boutique gamer who says your hardware is never good enough.

As for FPS if it doesn't stutter does it matter that much?

Imagine if DAW forums were like that.  So few responses are "replace the hardware".  I use to see that in Tascam's Giga forums from people who most likely sent their computer to a shop to update a BIOS.  I do see some immaturity like that on the Image Line forums once in a while.

Meanwhile game development is becoming worse. 50GB of lameness while classics like Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon 2 came on CDs.  The new GTA and CoD still on modest systems and they rake in the sales.

If gaming wasn't an addiction a lot of developers would be in trouble because half assed development is unforgivable outside the gaming world.  I their perfect world everyone would be using consoles but the PC is by far the #1 gaming platform.

When games contain fully uncompressed audio files filling 30 Gb+ of data, when converting those audio files to a standard which would take up even 3 Gb without any humanely perceptible loss in audio quality, and everyone thinks this is a good thing just makes me want to slap the stupid out of the world.

You obviously weren't around the Guitar Tracks forum about 10 years ago, when a certain user couldn't quite grasp the concept that his Realtek soundcard wasn't up to the task of recording.

Didn't we have a similar tool (or maybe the same guy?) here talking about SoundBlasters a few years ago?

I still remember paying an insane amount for a Turtle Beach soundcard because it had full MIDI which is what Cakewalk v1.0 required!

It's actually the video files that take up the space.  Developers are clueless on game optimization.

Recently I had and sold a X-Fi Titanium HD when I bought my current expensive motherboard and thought the onboard sound would be good enough .... Whist completely forgetting about recording and needing asio. I wanted to get the Soundblaster ZXR, but it uses two cards with its daughter board and I only had room for one due to using SLI, so I just got the base Z version. Still turns out that the audio quality is even better than my previous Titanium HD was. As long as its good enough for recording piano and vocals, thats all I needed, but I also just got hooked to gaming again and havnt worked on my pieces all this last week, I hate my lack of motivation.
