 Hi,

I just upgraded to Sonar X3 a few days ago (Yipee) and I have a question about Addictive drums 2. How do I import my own samples? I'm only able to use factory content but can't figure out how to import my own WAVE files. A simple question I know, and maybe I'm overlooking the obvious but i've been trying to figure this out on my own for far too long now.

Wow, I was hoping Addictive Drums 2 could be a upgrade and replacement for Session Drummer 3, but I guess that's a " no can do" as well .

I can't understand why the developer of AD 2 would leave off such a basic feature on such a nice sounding drum plugin. Why cripple such a gem? I was afraid no import was the case after searching the manual, website of developer, etc for many hours and finding no info (no sample import should be stated in the marketing blurb or some other easy to find place). I guess i'll stick with Session Drummer 3 for now as a main-go-to and just use AD 2 occasionally.

I too was disappointed about not being able to load my own samples, but that was mitigated considerably by the editing options that let you twist the existing samples in interesting ways. I didn't have much trouble coming up with some extremely electronic-sounding drums.

I saw this with other synths. Maybe AD2 does import. Try dragging a file into the picture where you want the sound. If it doesn't work, then at least you know. I don't do this but would be interested to know what you find out.

It's a dedicated sample player (not a sampler). They only want you to buy their AdPaks. That's why they effectively give it away in Sonar or sell it at a pretty cheap price. AdPaks is where they make their $$$.

I use Battery myself or Maschine for this purpose (one day I might use Geist). However I really do like Addictive Drums (version 1) regardless.

I got a email from the developer today stating no wave import can be done. It's to difficult to even implement in AD 2. Below is a quote of the developer:

QUOTE:
      "Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch.
I'm afraid it's not possible to load your own samples in Addictive Drums. To allow that would be rather complicated since many samples in Addictive Drums have multiple channels recorded. Close mic, overhead and room.
Don't hesitate to get back to me if you have any further questions.
Best regards, Gustaf Svenungsson" END QUOTE

Addictive Drums is still very nice and I am still happy to have it for the moment, but definitely it does not fully meet my needs as a sampler, not even as good as Session Drummer 3 unfortunately. I'll still use AD 2 occasionally but it can not meet my needs as a main-go-to with that type of a feature lack.  I'm sure i'll still get some good use out of it and as Craig Anderton pointed out AD 2 still has some good sound-manipulation features to make it a little flexible in some ways.

There is Drumagog. I'm not sure how it works but it does let you use your own samples.

I'm pretty sure you can import your samples into Session Drummer.
