I have the Novation SLMK2 midi keyboard and Virus Snow synth. Works perfectly.

However, I am thinking of going for a Virus Polar TI and sell my Snow and Novation midi keyboard. Then use the Polar as synth and midikeyboard.

But, and this is my concern/question...
One of the greatest features of Novation SLMK2 keyboard is the Automap software. Its an intelligent software that automatically assigning the hardware controller for various software. http://global.novationmus...oftware/automap.

As I use a lot of VST this is very handy for me.

I am wondering if anyone compared Polar VS SLMK2 in terms "easy software configuration" if you know what I mean?

yep, you mean if they are user friendly..

the  virus will have midi protocol at least.. and you can hopefully sort that out via ACT (although I do think that could be simplified e.g. like reason does)

all that automap is doing is tweaking some of the variables of the VST etc. e.g. "main volume".

you could always get the keyboard less version of the controller that has automap ? :)

just a thought, sure you already know this.

Thanks for input Fog.

Well, if there is a similar way to set up VSTs for the Virus TI, like "learn mode"

Doesn't ACT only function with CW keyboards?

The keyboard less controller is a great option, but I could also go for the desktop version of Virus TI and keep my Novation SLMK2 keyboard.

ACT works with any controller - it simply takes the midi messages output from said controller and maps it to soft functions.  SONAR remembers the mapping for whatever effect/synth is in focus.

With a hardware synth it is a little harder, since you need need to remember what knob goes to what function in the effect/synth.  It would be best to map each synth as closely to the hardware knob function.

Ok, sounds great.

I think I will stick to  my SLMK2 and get a Virus Desktop TI, or skip the virus for some other good VSTs, even though its a fantastic synth!!

Thanks for your help guys!
