Wow!!  I loved that!!  Excellent!!  Love the playing, the writing, the arranging, basically everything.  It sounds almost medieval (which is meant as a huge compliment).  Please post the finished version!!

@jude77 ,

Thank you for the kind words about my song I have put a lot into the song so far  and I feel there is still a ways too go .
Yes, I happen to like the Medieval description ...Let's see , if the shoe fits ...
I got real long hair , a mid length beard , I got a sword , I used to ride a horse just about every other day , and when I make some serious money I want to own and live in a Castle w a draw bridge and a moat ...
....Yep ...I'm more than OK with Medieval ...thank you for that ..
it is my desire to stick with this song and post a finished version that will hopefully satisfy ....

Very nice, Mister Kenny.

I heard an Irish-like influence in your 3/4 piece.  You need to put something in the middle that contrasts with the rest of it, like a bridge in the relative minor mode maybe.  Just take the bridge down a minor third and then return to the original key, otherwise what you have now is a tad repetitive.  All music needs variety in its chordal progressions, as you know.

Keep up the good work.

Best,

Larry Alexander

Hello  Larry ,

I gave you 3 of them fellas because I respect where you are coming from and I know you know your stuff

For me to do what you are suggesting would involve a tremendous amount of work ...all my tracks are audio
when I play my synth parts I play them in real time as the song is playing ....
I do happen to think that you are giving me solid advice and I am willing to take it ....lets see how the song develops ....at the very least I may decide to cut this down to the most essential musical motifs and use them as smaller parts within a song that is much greater as a whole ....thank you Larry

Mesh
Yes, very nice Kenny and it really did give a folk/Celtic/Irish theme.........nice composition and looking forward to the completed project. One thing for sure is you're inspiring me to use more & more of Midi guitar.

Hi Mesh ,
I'm grateful to hear that something musical I may have played would have you interested in playing more Midi Guitar
In some circles guitar players can be the brunt of a lot of jokes , but I can tell you for a fact that guitar players can come up with some really cool ways of creating new expressive music ...
Many years ago I was hanging out with a well know sax player David S....we were casual friends at the time .
I asked him how he came up with some of his lines .David told me he copied the way guitar players played when they played lead guitar solos  No Lie ....
I have been putting in some more time with this song ...I do hope I can bring it to the next level ...
My intention is to post a finished song project when I get her there ...

thank you all  ..

Kenny

Wookiee
Sounds like you are having some fun making this, I to will refrain from comment until the finish product is present.

Edit: I just downloaded the trial version of Jam Guitar Kenny, I blame you, you just irritated my GAS gland.

Hey Wookiee ,

it's a good thing you have the mini wookiee guarding your keyboard ...you don't know how many times I've listened to you music and caught a severe case of synth induced GAS ...
As far as the tune goes , I've been been working on it ...it is coming along ..thanks for the listen

James , it's all good ....we will do something together again in the future

Rimshot
Good start Kenny! Like the mood. I can hear some clicks like at .02 and .47. Don't know if that's your fingers or something on the acoustic. It comes from the right speaker just so you know.

Hi Rimshot,
Thanks for pointing that out . The click at .02 is the nail on my pinky hitting the pickguard .The one at .47 is my hand slapping  the soundboard to dampen something ... .
02 I'm stuck with it for now ...the one at .47   i was able to slip edit  out ...
Anyway there is a lot of stuff like that going on in my performance , I used a condenser mic in an untreated room ( my old apt ) I'm running with what I have for now since there is not much I can do other than rerecord the whole acoustic guitar part in an acoustically treated space like a real studio or a sound stage at a hall ...

It is what it is , and it is a start ...thanks for the listen .

That was really nice, Kenny!   And as others mentioned, sooo different than anything you've posted before.   In a good way.    It's unfinished so I won't make any mix comments, but as a composition I thought it worked well.

very pleasant, soothing, and calming. Probably more pleasant, soothing, and calming than the Medieval Era itself.
Reminded me a little of something Pat Metheny's group might jam on.

If you are open to mix ideas, I wonder if you could do something a little deeper with the bass guitar, cut away some of the roundwoundish upper mids? It might help the other instruments come forward.

I'll check out you piece when it is done for sure!

cheers,
-Tom

Great arrangement, Kenny!
Everything fits well, right where it should (considering with this many parts it could get busy).  And well performed, of course.

Nice tune Kenny.  As usual, excellent guitar work.  Interesting how you have triggered your midi with your guitar, I will have to look into that.

Hello Tom ,

Yes , I'm certainly open to mix suggestions

The tune that has been posted on S C is just a headphone mix I did the same night I tracked my Bass parts.
I would have never of posted my song this early in it's development except for the reason that I had asked for help upstairs ...

The current state of the song at home has something along the lines of what you have suggested ...
I gave and shifted the whole sound of the bass to a much lower end frequency responses spectrum of the sound .

Still currently working on the song ...it is coming along .What I have now sounds better to me...it still needs a little more TLC ...Wait I mean a lot more

I'm actually very tempted to upgrade from the free Soundcloud  I have now to a version of SC  where I can upload a new mix w out loosing the likes and listens my tune has gotten so far ...

thank you for commenting I really appreciate that you did
