A piano/orchestral piece. Each section of the song uses the same theme, but represents different stages of a lifetime.

I still have a lot to learn about using dynamics more fully with orchestral instruments, but I did try to make this as expressive and dynamic as I could manage. Hope you enjoy!

That's a great soundscape feeling - it would fit well in a road-type film, Straight Story or some such.  I'm nopt a great film-watcher, so I don't know. This has great variations and actually a lot of dynamics. The choral section could have risked blowing it, but you kept it just right. Good work

This is glorious Dan. Really well done, I love how you developed and expanded on the central theme. That ending is worthy of The Last Night of The Proms, stirring stuff! Quite inspiring to hear something like this as I'm returning to my instrumental pieces.

Dan,

Great song and overall performance.    The only nit for me is that intro keyboard has a little too much high-end on it (a little shrill compared to rest of the soundscape).   It sounds a little like that new Una Corda Keyboard from NI.   The acoustic piano and rest of the instruments sound really good EQ wise.

Anyway, great production.   Your music is always immediately recognizable which is not always the case with instrumental pieces.   Love it:)

Thanks Jerry! I appreciate the comments. I really wanted the choir at the end (I dreamed about it, lol). I had to buy a choir library to do it, that's how much I wanted it.

I really would've like the end to be more impactful/powerful, and I kept fiddling with the levels to get it there, but I could never find the sweet spot, so I settled...

I quite enjoyed that Dan, though repetitive it was not boring, you kept my interest throughout, thanks for sharing.

very cool Dan and sounds great. The piano and string that comes in after the music box(?) is glorious.
I like to think that I'm the middle matchstick but I think I may be the 2nd last :)

Thanks James! Glad you enjoyed the ending. Hey, instrumentals don't have to be boring, lol...

When my wife heard this, she asked if this was the song I did for my Dad. She was surprised when I told her "no" and played the actual song. First thing out of her mouth was "he'd have liked this better", lol...she's a killer that one.

Top shelf as always Dan!
You are the master at blending instruments and creating moods with your arrangements!

You present your music visually on SoundCloud so well with your background photos!
Excellent mix and another great song!

Thanks Mark! The keyboard in the intro is three layers of two music boxes and a Guitaret. The Guitaret is very plunky sounding with a sometimes unpleasant screech sound. I liked it for this, so I kept it. Not to everyone's tastes for sure.
