We're aiming to create a platform with Creators from all styles, including beyond music to sound design, field recordings etc. Our aim is to become a platform that facilitates other Creators to make great content for people to use, rather than a company that cherry picks the content. That being said, we'll still have a strict screening process in place to make sure everything is of the highest quality.

"...We'll be revealing pricing for this on Tuesday. It's probably not as expensive as you might think..."

Hmm. How expensive do you think?

The business model: charge a subscription to download as many samples as you want, and to allow users to submit samples for inclusion, for which submitters will presumably earn a royalty every time it's downloaded.

It's the kind of ambitious plan that could be very successful, or fall flat if it doesn't reach critical mass. Will it be entirely "loopz and EDM" oriented? That's the biggest market, the one I'd pursue if it was my startup. But really, how many supersaws and risers does one need? I'm hoping it's broader than that.

Hey Dave, what will happen with the samplephonics synth patches?

Good question. We're not uploading synth patches right now, but we are looking into a more integrated solution for presets, MIDI, instruments and various other forms of content, as well as developing new formats. Following launch we'll be looking closely at all available options to expand Noiiz, so any ideas are welcome!

Just curious who still uses wave samples? Give me an instrument any day.

I actually use wave samples in my work everyday. Sometimes it's just faster and easier to get hits, transitions etc done with waves than with instruments and midi. :)

Lots of EDM producers still use wave samples.

Interesting, thanks for the response. I'm obviously biased toward instruments as when I'm not lazy I make them.

In my mind I'm thinking of someone hunting through orchestral samples to create a full symphonic piece. Let me see I need to find my C5 solo violin sample and then my legato E5 sample and slide it just a bit under the C5 sample, then I need to do the same thing for five strings sections, four brass sections and five woodwinds section. Then after finding, importing and manipulating 30 samples, I'll have half a second of music.

For that, instruments are way better. :)

But for creating things more on the effect side (risers, downers, hits, transition) instruments are quite cumbersome. It's just neater to work with the audio than instruments. :)

You'd be surprised how much stuff in the industry uses samples.

That's very short sighted thinking.  Virtual instruments and loops are tow different things.

Well I have an instrument or tow that seem to use wave files and I own several loops that seem to be wave files... So they might be somewhat related.
