I'm looking for a distortion plugin, something classy that will provide a warm drive - any suggestions?

Thanks - rev

I'm not sure if you're talking guitar overdrive, or just general overdrive. But I used the Cakewalk TL-64 tube leveler to add some nice overdrive to the Hammond B3 track that I was working on. Try it out!

Plug ins ... naw, Sorry just not the same because to me the guitar and amp/pedal need to be juiced up together. Something just ain't right about doing that "warm tube" thing with number crunching.

Myself I find if your after a "Blues" type overdrive ( it's not what most would call distortion) only a tube amp cranked up will do. But sometimes this is not possible so many people go on a quest for that "tube Overdrive" sound. Pedals like the "RAT" and of course the "Tube Screamer" are OK replacements for a tube amp. There are many, many distortion pedals for heavy rock, but fewer are devoted to the "blues" type overdrive you get from a Fender amp.

I sat in a store one day and tried them all and bought this. It is an amazing little box. This little company is slowly catching on.
The Trelicopter tremelo pedal is another must have and a dead ringer for a tremolo in a tube amp.

Yes, a general - for sizzling up a horn section.

Thanks, I never knew what a 'leveler' was.

Can I hear the Hammond track?

BTW: Not knowing about the Leveler, I tried Steinberg's DaTube and it does the trick. I have Cubase as well as Sonar and the Cubase plugs also work in Sonar.

Try the Kemper Profiler demos on the web, I own one and it's amazing!

Trouble is I needed a plug, I guess I could have put it through the Kemper but I've only just got it and haven't had a chance to master the reamping stuff.

I'll post it when I'm done with the song. I don't want to give it away yet. BTW I called it a Hammond B3 track, but it's actually a VSTi called VB3. I don't actually own a Hammond. Maybe someday though...

Voxengo Warm Tube works very well. it's older and probably 32 bit but maybe they have updated more recently. Also Nick Crow makes a tube driver that works well. I'd also recommend  Variety of sounds Slick HDR.  All are free and all are good quality.
