Hi,

I am having issues saving projects in Sonar X2 Producer. Its with a particular VST, Cinestrings Core by Cinesamples through Kontakt, everytime I try and save my project with a patch from Cinestrings in a track I get the NOT RESPONDING message at the top of my page.  My laptop uses windows 7 which has an I5 processor with 8 gb ram. I use a fair VSTS and never have had any issues. Can anyone help or give advice?

Cheers

Welcome to forumland...

So here is a checklist to start off...

Are you running X2A?
Does this happen in a brand new project with just the plugin inserted?
Using antivirus? If so try temporarily disabling it.
Have you run chkdsk and defragged recently? (If not worth a go).
Have you updated Kontakt through service centre recently (worth a go).
Any issues when running Sonar as adminstrator? (Right click the icon....Run As).
And this thread may be of help... http://audiosex.pro/index...oblems-with-kontakt-5/

Cheers...

Thanks for the reply Alex

Im running sonar X2 Producer.
It happens both times, when I try to replace my old EWQL patches with the new cinestrings and when I open up a new project.
Im running Kasper sky Internet security if thats what you mean?
yeah I have run disk check and defrag but I have been advised against it.
Yeah I downloaded Kontakt again just to be on the safe side.
Tried running sonar as administrator too.
I will check out the link.

Thank you

I'm not sure what you mean here. Unless you are using SSD people should not be discouraging you from doing this, chkdsk is in fact an essential operation. Defrag does improve performance it just should not be run all the time, there are occasions where a heavily fragmented drive causes issues. If you don't run chkdsk periodically (or Windows does not do it automatically) you may end up losing your files and ending up with similar scenarios like you are experiencing. None of this should do any damage.

However you should always back up, if you don't have a backup strategy now is the time because your hard drive will fail one day. My suggestion is to use Acronis TrueImage and an external USB drive if you haven't done this (different people will of course suggest different solutions).

Yes so please try temporarily disabling Kaspersky to see if this improves matters.

I don't think there is a need to re-install Kontakt just make sure there are no updates in Native Instruments Service Centre.

Freeze or render all tracks associated with Kontact. Then Save. Its a Kontact issue.

Thank me,
