It was a forward slash "/" on the name of the drive and that has been there since I put this computer together 4 years ago.

What else was weird was that I had to remove a couple of .rar files. Apparently that was stopping the process to. But why would the .rar file stop the process and the Komplete files and IK Multimeida files on my drive?

Maybe because Sonar is equipped to read those types of files and not .rar files

Thanks for the reply, chawilcomm - Forward slash!  Hmm, interesting. -- As for the .rar files - you can't open those up directly because they're not unpacked.  Just like a Zip file - they need to be unpacked into full audio files before Sonar can read and use them.

You mentioned earlier that you've also been talking about files such as for Komplete besides .wav files - You can't open those directly through a browser, they're proprietary files to be used in the associated program, Komplete in that case.  --

So it was the drive volume label and not a folder?
In regards to RAR, in theory if Sonar does not recognise the file it should ignore it and move on, the process should not stop.
Interesting will test that on X3E when I get a chance...
Glad it's fixed...!  Cheers :)

It's my understanding the Sonar won't even list non-compatible files in the Browser.

I've just pointed it to my Documents folder, and the only items listed are a couple of downloaded wavs - everything else in there is ignored. (I have a couple of hundred other documents in the same folder)

All I know is that when I opened X2, clicked on the media tab in the browser and pointed it toward my sample hard drive it would show 3 folders that I have labeled for easy import/export and .rar file containing alot of midi files and it would stall out.. it didn't take 30 minutes like before but it took like 10 or 15. when I removed that .rar file from my sample hard drive I was able to jump in and out of it with ease.

Could have been the fact that it was a compressed file and the size of it that Sonar was trying to read to see if it was compatible, I am not sure... As you, I have pointed it to all my other drives and have dozens of different type of files too with no problem..

I'm just glad that it is working because coming on the forum was the last straw. My mind was made up to just uninstall it, take a loss and search for another DAW to replace it down the road. I am extremely glad that I don't have to because this DAW is flooded with features that I am finding extremely useful.

I'm glad it's working too - But uninstalling and replacing Sonar because of that one issue would have been super extreme, since you find so much to like about it.  The work around, if this never would have been resolved, would have been only very slightly inconvenient - you just open a window, browse to your files, and drag them into Sonar from there.  It's great you have the more convenient way working now.

Well I added to the name of my D Drive volume label a forward and back slash, and then tried to browse media with X3E and it worked... Maybe it's fixed...?

Cheers...
