Hi.  I'm new here.  Having just purchased and installed Sonar X3 Studio, I took notice when I tried to use my EZ Drummer ver 1 that the interface will load but the sounds do not.  The progress number on the lower right corner of the interface just says 0 and no sound is produced when I click on the instruments.  Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Welcome John.
I just went through this last week as I am migrating my software from a 32bit Vista laptop to a 64 bit pc.
Have you updated X3 to X3e yet? If not, do that first. The download is X3a.
Did you upgrade from an earlier Sonar version, and are you running the 64bit version of X3?
Does EZDrummer appear in your Plug-in Manager as EZDrummer or dkfh?
And are you running X3 as an administrator? Don't just click the first run as admin option. Check the box in properties/ compatibility.

Thanks Bob!
I bought the boxed version of the software.  It says it X3 build 196.  I don't know anything about the X3e download.
EZD appears in the plug in manager a EZ Drummer.  In fact, I can see the drums appear to vibrate when I click on them.  The only thing is there is no sound produced and the instruments are apparantly not loading because the progress meter on the lower right hand corner of EZ Drummer's interface always says 0.  It's supposed to load up into the hundreds.  It does on my other DAW software programs and the solo version.  I tried the compatability selection.  No joy.

The X3e update is here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...13361/SONAR-X3e-Update

Is the 32bit or 64bit version of SONAR running? If 64bit SONAR is the 64bit version of EZD loading?

In the future, please post in the X series forum. This forum is for older pre-X series versions of SONAR

Yeah, the boxed version is an earlier build. Go ahead and download the X3e update. It has some important patches.
Make sure EZDrummer is in the right place. It should be in Program Files(x86)/Toontrack/EZDrummer. Or alternatively in you Cakewalk VST folder, also in Program File(x86). I prefer to let such programs install to their default location, but different strokes, etc.
Download the 64bit EZDrummer update from Toontrack. This will install the appropriate .dll. Direct that to Program Files/Cakewalk/VSTPugins.
Run the vst scan again, then reset all plugins.
At this point, EZDrummer should load properly when you insert it in your project.
You may need to run EZDrummer as admin. I had to do that with my IK plugins, but I don't remember if I had to do it for EZDrummer.

Also, this forum is for legacy Sonar verions. For future reference, you will want to post in the X Seies forum.
For now, we can address this question in this thead.

Sorry about the wrong forum post.  I'll try to remember that in the future.  I re installed Sonar as the 32 bit version and now the sounds load.  I've been looking all over Toontrack for a 64 bit version of EZD but can't find it.  What am I missing by running Sonar @ 32 bit over 64 bit?  Could you please link me to the X3e update?   Thanks, all!

Steve posted the link in his reply.

.
64 bit allows you to use way more memory so if your planning on using lots of efxs and soft synths you will want the extra memory.
You can install both versions ( 32 & 64) side by side.

If your PC has more than 8GB of RAM and you are running the 64bit version of Windows, you should be running 64bit SONAR. Most newer commercial plug-ins have 64bit versions and vendors supply them free of charge. The original EZDrummer has a 64bit version and it runs well in 64bit SONAR. Download the latest version of EZDrummer from your store account. It should contain a 32bit and 64bit installer with a readme file.

Sort of.
The original 32 bit EZDrummer must be in place.
Download the 1.3.3 update from your Toontrack account. it has a 64 bit option when you install it.
It will install a 64 bit .dll, but the kits load from the 32 bit folder.
