Hi,
I have SONAR X3 Studio on a Windows 7 64bit PC. I have an old 6-pin DIN style Edirol UM-1 MIDI interface that has worked faithfully for years. But every time I connect it to a different USB port, SONAR thinks it's a different device and promptly forgets that it exists so I have to go to Preferences / MIDI / Devices and select it again. I think this happens sometimes even if I don't change USB ports/hubs. It's frustrating enough that SONAR can't seem to remember the tracks assigned to that interface... It's even worse that I have to manually reassign each individually. You'd think it could at least remember that the output of tracks 10,11,12 and 13 were assigned to the same device previously such that when I manually re-assign track 10, the rest of them assign automatically. Aren't track output channel assignments saved with the CWP file?! I shouldn't even need to re-assign the first track. If it has knowledge of the assignments it should just assign it for me when it senses that another UM-1 interface (regardless of port) has been connected! And when the UM-1 is not connected why does SONAR opt to auto-assign these tracks to whatever interface does happen to be available. It should just leave them un-assigned and then auto-assign them when the same device becomes available. I'd wager it's because it identifies the device by what USB port address it initially had. How hard can it be to just parse the name of the device and re-assign it for me irrespective of port address?
Thanks
Jeff
