I have the budget and i want the best my 2500/3000 euros can afford ..

You don't need to look further. EVENT OPAL is the best monitors, period! You can ask anyone that know this. You will not find anyone that will say that OPAL sucks that has heard them. All say the same = AMAZING!!!

Second best. Focal SM9.

Third best, ADAM but you need to go up much further up to get some performance, like ADAM S3x-h. Cost more then 3000€ also.

below that ...rest good monitors... Genelec, Mackie, KRK, Yamaha, Alesis, Behringer etc..

Remember what Freddie is saying is opinion not fact. I know some engineers here in Melbourne who are not necessarily fans of the Event Opals. I have heard them myself and was impressed for sure but not overly impressed. I must admit the only way I am ever going to find out is to have them here in my studio for a period of time. Something I might arrange in the future. I don't doubt they are good though.

There are some other very high quality speakers such as:

Klein and Hummel

Also PMC. We have got a set of PMC's at the TAFE where I teach and they sound fabulous.

They are not cheap though. You have a decent sized budget which is good. Check out a few things to make sure. For that sort of money the distributor should set you up with a pair for while to do a decent test.  It is fair outlay and you should be able to hear them under your conditions. Try and maybe get more than one set in your possession at the same time so you can do some comparisons. Have some fantastic sounding reference CD's for testing. Focal speakers are good too.

But a really expensive monitor won't necessarily transform your mixes either. Only you can do that.

I tested the PMC TB2S AII and it was the begiigest joke i ever (and some engineer with me ) heard .....FAR FAR from AML series ...the most overpriced piece of crap i heard period !!  ok my friends are coming from atc 25 but even my P11A blow them for real !!!

i heard the opal and thy're great but i found the tweeter alittle 2 metal sounding ...but i doubt that my friends in its studio calibrate accuratly those babies ...at that time ...

used to love the K/H but they're  now old and get surpassed in all areas by both Event s and adam ...but they're the most natural of all ...

I'm scratching my head between those and even now with the S3X H or V ....

I even think of keeping my P11A + sub 8 as i see a lot of big name falling against those ....

When I heard the Opals I had a similar view but they may have been set bright too so that could be the reason.

One of the reasons why you might think the K and H speakers are the most natural is because maybe they are!

You have got some nice speakers already. I get the impression you may just need to hear your bottom end a bit better. You may just need a larger diameter woofer combined with a sub. That would make a huge difference. Perhaps look at the Eve Audio range. Here:

http://www.eve-audio.com/ They have had some very good reviews even more favourable than Adam at times.

Click on the models to the left. The SC208C might be nice for you with a sub.

The Opal's natural enemy is the Focal Twin three-way monitor, or so I've read...

The only models I've heard in this price-range are Genelecs and Dynaudios, but they seem to be out of fashion these days!

The twin 6 be is actually not a three way monitor but an MTM design, which means both woofers are basically doing the same thing.  They are very nice, but could use a sub for the lowest octave.  Opals sound good too, if a little boomy by comparison, but it does exhibit some hiss from the amplifier.  Drivers over 6.5-7" tend to have trouble in the upper midrange in exchange for a lower reach.

I have never heard a good Coaxial speaker so I would be hesitant to trust the Presonus.  Especially with the addition of a digital DSP and cass D amplification.  Never much liked Dynaudio, just a pile of mud in the bass, and Genelecs sound nasal to me.

The best smaller active speakers I have heard are PMC AML2.  The transmission line design means the bass will not drop off at lower volumes.

I personally use a custom passive system with SEAS drivers.  The sound is just spectacular, and it yields great results in the studio.

inside info. That problem were at the first and old model V1 of Opal!
The new version V2 that has been out now for for while around the world, doesn't have that issue anymore. Some other small enhancements inside the monitors has also been added and fixed. If you own the old V1 please contact you local generalagent and they will replace your old monitors or fix the issues for you.

Note, it has not official advantage as V2.
