  • "Fatal error" when replacing synth

While working one of my projects, one of my SoundCenter synth tracks somehow got turned into a TTS track.

The first thing I tried to do is replace it with a SoundCenter synth, move the notes from the old SoundCenter track and delete that old track. But when I played the song, that new CSC track, the volume meter wouldn't light up although the instrument played.

Next thing I know, when right-clicking the new track anywhere, I get this:

Also notice the glitched Inspector while that track is highlighted.

This is one thing that truly ticks me off. I'm trying to focus and do some serious work and I got this frenetic series of error windows that crash my application. I literally tried creating this new track five times and got the same error. This is unacceptable.

Can anyone guide me on how to resolve this so I don't have to rewrite the whole project?
Thanks in advance.

Could be tricky getting to the bottom of this.
TTS is an old DX plugin from 2005 so I would tend to avoid. I avoid soundcentre as well..

However that does not help you...
Q's
I assume this is only happening for one project?
Any other plugins that could be causing this you could remove and rule out?
Are you running X3E? If not install it.
Have you performed a VST reset? That is a reset followed by a rescan? (You should do it after X3E install)

Oh you might want to restart your PC if you haven't already to clear any rogue processes.

Thanks..

Are you using simple instrument tracks or separate MIDI/audio tracks?
Such anomalities could be easier to correct using the latter, I guess.
I've never heard of a soft synth accidentally being replaced by another.
By volume meter, do you mean actual audio tracks volume level or the MIDI tracks MIDI activity meter? They often get confused.

This only happened to one project, and I guess I started getting the error when I was "messing around" replacing the synth of one track with another synth.
There are no other plugins intact.
As stated in my signature, the X3e patch is installed.
A VST reset doesn't seem to alleviate the problem.

The CSC is a Simple, the TTS calls to an Audio output track.
The LED meter in the Inspector doesn't light up when that instrument plays, but it does produce sound.

You might want to back up, then create a bundle, open the bundle and save as a project. That might clear something.

The other thing could be to create a new project and cut and paste or import the content of the old tracks into the new project.

Assuming this is a project corruption issue...

Cheers...
