Just curious how many users here have installed Win 7 'without' the hidden partition that Win 7 will create if installed on a brand new disk versus choosing the 'advanced' option and installing over a previous partition or OS?

Has this been as stable as the traditional 'new disk' Win 7 install using the hidden partition? Does Sonar X3 require any special permissions that would require this hidden partition to be there versus all on one partition?

It's mainly for the windows recovery environment which is nonessential for some. I don't use it but then I do multi-boot.

You should read this I suggest. Cheers..

Heh Alex,

I know how to install without the hidden partition and I am using Win 7 this way now.
I want to know if there is anything about Sonar that would require Windows to be installed 'with' this hidden partition? Is there some 'permissions' level access that Sonar makes that needs this partition in place versus having Win7 on a single partition?

If installed, the partition is only needed for windows recovery environment and you may also be booting from it.
No Windows apps would really need this as a requirement including Sonar.

Cheers...
