Ok. Thanks!
Strange thing though is that some of the audio files ARE copied in the /Audiodata folder while the missing ones aren't even though I never changed setting along the way.. but I realise you're taking about the /audio folder in the project folder. I really should educate myself more about this.

I wil decide tomorrow whether I'll copy the missing audio files to the audio folder or use the mklink option (not that many projects so 2 hours tops of work).

Once again: Much oblige!

The mklink is easy to try and remove if you don't like it (just delete it, no data will be lost).

Also consider using per-project audio folders going forward with Preferences > File > Audio Data  "Use Per-Project Audio Folders" enabled and make sure "Store Project Audio in its own Folder" is enabled in the "New Project File" dialog.

good luck

Hi,

I tried the mklink command but I'm getting an error "The syntax of filename, foldername or volumename is incorrect"
(Kind of a paraphrase since I'm translating from dutch).

I'll try to provide the full info on my previous folder setup:
I used to have all my samples organised like this:

In the default C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library folder I had maps named like this:
(I have a habit of adding a 'zero' in front of names so that they are organised on top hence the weird naming)

0 - Afro Indian Arabic
0 - Glitch & Minimal
0 - Jazz
0 - Sounds & Ambiances
0 - Vocals
Loops
One Shots
etc.

So like C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library\0 - Afro Indian Arabic

Currently I have these maps in another partition ánd another submap like this:

B:\DAW Soundbanks\0 - Afro Indian Arabic
B:\DAW Soundbanks\0 - Glitch & Minimal
etc..

So I tried this command:
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk\Content\Audio Library" B:\DAW Soundbanks

What am I doing wrong?

If you want "B:\DAW Soundbanks" as your "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library" the command would be
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library" "B:\DAW Soundbanks"
The directory "Audio Library" cannot already exist in "C:\Cakewalk Content". The command you tried needed quotes around the b: directory name and probably has an extra \ in the c: path.

I feel like a complete idiot and sorry to keep bothering you but it doesn't work either.

The mklink command was accepted btw. but I still get errors of missing files.
Then I tried removing the Audio Library folder from C:\Cakewalk Content
Also I went to preferences ->folder locations and changed this to B:\DAW Soundbanks

Do you mean I have to change my B:\Daw Soundbanks into B:\Audio Library\Daw Soundbanks?
And do I need to change the path to B:\ in the folder settings?

I'm afraid I need a step-by-step walkthrough. If you're getting tired of this I understand -then just tell me how to roll back the mklink thing...

The object of the exercise is to reproduce the exact layout of the previous installation using mklink to create links to the current physical location. By issuing the command
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library" "B:\DAW Soundbanks"
SONAR will use "B:\DAW Soundbanks" anytime a project references "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library". You can confirm this by using the Windows Explorer to drive into "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library". It should show the folders under "B:\DAW Soundbanks". It does not matter what the top level on B: is called as long at the structure underneath it is exactly like it was under "C:\Cakewalk Content\Audio Library" in the original installation.

I did notice the folders in Explorer yes and I'm positive the structure in B:\ is the same as it was before.
I'll fiddle around some more tomorrow I guess.

Thanks anyway!

For closure: Eventually I simply copied the files as I couldn't manage to get it working with the provided help.
Nevertheless good info and most importantly a good lesson for me in proper filemanagement!

Tnx.
