1) I've found a series of Sonar X2 videos on the Cakewalk YouTube channel. Is it suggested that I watch any Sonar X2 tutorials to further my education, or it best to perhaps avoid these so as not to confuse myself on what may have changed since X2?
 
2) Is there any way to bring back Music Creator's File Load/Save/Burn module to the Control Bar?

3) In which file are Sonar's Preferences and Control Bar settings located (in case I wish to back up these settings)?

4) Upon a fresh installation of Sonar, three instances of Cakewalk Projects are created. Ummm...what the heck? (in other words, why?)

5) Sometimes my vertical gridlines disappear! How can I stop this from happening?

6) Is there a way to insert a GM1 synth track? I have older projects from the 90's I wish to remaster, and I would like a GM1 synth merely to assist in identifying the old instrument patches I used. (I no longer have the raw MIDI data from my 90's projects, just the digital.)
 
7) I'm having a problem editing within Take Lanes. Take Lanes are, after all, for different "takes", correct? Whenever I delete data from the Take Lane, it deletes it from its host track as well. Aren't Take Lanes supposed to work independently from each other?

1) Take lanes videos should probably be avoided since X3 added new "Comping" mode. Also avoid things that no longer exist in Sonar (e.g. V-Vocal).
 
5) Grid lines in the Piano Roll view?
 
6) I believe TTS-1 is a GM synth (Insert > Soft Synth > DirectX > Cakewalk TTS1).
 
7) Take lanes are independent from each other, but they are part of a track (they make the track) so if you delete data in any of the lanes it will be deleted from the track as well.

You can still write automation the old way if you don't want to use take lanes. It took me a while to get used to take lanes. Mostly, remembering that they're there.
X2 videos will be very helpful as a starting point but much has been moved around and completely changed since X2.

The old videos will show much of how sonar still works.  Comping is an example of a big change - but there are only a few others.

When I lower the Velocity of a note, every new note I draw thereafter uses the same velocity. I prefer that every new note is default velocity! Is there a setting for that?
 
I know that eventually I'll want to convert some of my MIDI tracks to Audio. What is the difference between "Bounce to Audio" and "Convert to Audio", and how will I know when to utilize either?

A bunch of Sonar settings live in the roaming application data for your user, in aud.ini, and I would imagine other files there have additional info Sonar uses.
 
I don't know that I would start playing around with its internal files - some folks change stuff once in a while, but clearly that isn't something they intend for folks to do, outside of their Preferences dialog.
 
I am curious - what do you wish to do in the file menu that you used to do in MC6?

Preferences is in the Edit menu. 
You can edit the tool bars just like any windows app.

I'm not able to bounce a TTS synth track to audio, but I can bounce any other synth track. Am I missing something? Is there a workaround other than exporting the track to audio?
