Thanks Beepster and CakeAlex!!!
I will ask our tech guy to do those things!!!
and yes Beepster ...File Open is the only way to do that!!!

I think it's a problem with too many instances of Melodyne open at the same time and a buffer setting....
...we'll see if anyone comments on that !

I've seen it mentioned a few times that it's best to do whatever it is you need melodyne to do then bounce it to avoid problems (and if you think you may want to return to the original clip to make a copy before messing with it... obviously). I could definitely see having multiple open instances of melodyne causing issues.

I totally think this is correct...

Odd thing is I've had LOTS of short clips open simultaneously on other projects ...recently... that didn't crash.
All in all ... I believe Melodyne in multiple instances is causing this.....
What I did was correct the problem(s) ...export the file ... then remove the region FX in preparation for the next edit.

Thanks Beepster for sticking with this one!! Hope I can be of help on something sometime!

Melodyne : cut up the track into small pieces.

After 4 or 5 "corrections" bounce the track. Then go on to the next few regions etc. Works for me like that just fine. Yes its a PITA to do things small wise but who cares, i've never lost data by doing it that way.

Cheers,
Jerry

Just reading about other people's issues and then watching as they figure them out helps me immensely actually. That way if I encounter problems I have an idea of how to deal with them. If it's something I've seen another thread about and can offer a suggestion that ends up working then it is just extra proof that solution is worth keeping in mind.

So basically you have already helped me. I haven't even tried out Melodyne yet... lol...

I am about to though (gonna convert a bass line to MIDI using the ARA stuff) so I've been keeping an eye on Melodyne related threads.

Cheers.

The point of this post is to report that project files simply disappear when the program crashes...

is "write caching" disabled in device manager, for the hd where the files "disappear"?
