Hello Everyone,

I am noticing some odd behaviour with Sonar's built in Arpeggiator. I realize I can just program the notes I want in, but I am actually using it for sound design.  For some reason a patch I made on a Korg Polysix VST sounds thicker and fuller when I have the ARP on and the ARP mix sitting around 40%.

Anyway, I notice that sometimes it decides to HOLD notes down even after I release the key!  It does this while playing a track too (especially if there are some NRPN programming besides the note programming).

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Thank you,
Adam

**UPDATE**

I just noticed that it goes away if and ONLY if I turn the "Dur" (duration) to 0.0% in the ARP settings.   I wonder what that is?   Notes rolling on top of another?

How long are the notes held for? Indefinitely? Or do they fade/stop after a short time? Is it just one note or does the arp keep playing?

From what you've said so far, if it's the last note tat takes a bit of time to stop playing, I'd suggest taking a look at the VCA (amplifier) envelope in the synth patch. It may have a long decay/sustain setting which means notes continue after the key is released or MIDI note off is received.

I was programming up a cover of a Jeff Beck tune, called Star Cycle, which has a great sequenced part in it.  I had each note played as 1/16th notes, but when I hit play, they all ran together.

So, I had to redo the clip, still with a 1/16th note, but with it sub-divided into 2 steps, giving me 2 1/32nd notes for each 1/16th note.  So now, each note was played for half as long, but the song still moved along at the 1/16th note pace.  So, the effect was to play what sounded like truncated 1/16th notes, when really each was a 1/32nd note followed by a 1/32nd of silence.

If the above is not what is happening, perhaps you need a larger midi buffer?

Just a couple of thoughts - I hope you get your problems with this straightened out.
