This is my first time posting in the "Songs" forum, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

I just released a soundtrack I composed for a PC game called "ikenie". Everything on the soundtrack was done using Sonar Platinum (other than the mastering, which I hired someone to do for me). Here's a Soundcloud link to the main BGM track called "Relict". I'm happy to hear any thoughts on the track or answer any questions about the game it's a part of. Enjoy!

Here's a link to the soundtrack on Bandcamp if you're curious to check it out :)

Hi Chris and welcome to the songs forum.
Very nice job on this - cool progression. I like the mix of FM sounding synths and the 8 bit sounds.
Good luck with it

Hey, nice contemplative mood piece. All the rhythmic elements are spot on.

Whatever reverb you are using, you are using it very well.
Everything seems to fit the stage perfectly.

Are you using a reverb that comes with SPlat?

cheers,
-Tom

Hey, thank you! Regarding the reverb, even though the soundtrack itself was just released, I wrote and mixed this track quite a while ago. I'll have to double-check what reverb I used on it. My guess is either Breverb or Eventide Ultrareverb, since those used to be my go-to ones before I started using ReMatrix Solo (Pro-Channel) and the Relab LX-480 (Slate Digital Everything Bundle). I'll check today after work and let you know.

Okay, so I'm back home and have my project open.

As I guessed, I was using Breverb on this one. Perhaps surprisingly, I'm actually using a combination of hall, plate, and room settings on the various instruments. So, each instrument has its own instance of Breverb inserted on its audio track, and each is using a different reverb setting.

EQ is all from Sonar's QuadCurve EQ. Compression is Native Instrument's VC2A and VariComp.

Sounds good!  I do like the sense of space you've created using the different reverb combinations.   The synth tones make for nice layering too.

Welcome to the forum Chris. Very cool soundtrack this is.....enjoyed this on my H-phones and could hear a lot of nice details. Interestingly, I've been listening to a lot Mike Oldfield lately/today and your piece falls nicely into the same vein. Well done & good luck with release!!

Thanks for listening, Mesh. I wasn't familiar with Mike Oldfield's name, but a quick search tells me they used one of his pieces for the intro to The Exorcist. I'll have to give some more of his stuff a listen and see if I can hear the similarities you mentioned. I'm always looking for new tunes to check out and inspire me, so thanks for that!
