I'm running X3 and my track manager opens just fine in the track view but will not in the console view. This was never been a problem for me in 8.5 thru X2, It just started in X3. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm not sure were to start troubleshooting this one?

Yep. I've seen this in X3 but only on older projects not started in X3.

Is this what you're seeing?

I've had this from time to time since X1.
I solved this by chance once when I deleted a lot of unused tracks and synths from a project based on a template that included them and then H worked in console view.
I have the same issue with a current project (which started life in 2010) and reading the OP prompted me to have a look.
Several synths were inserted into this project as instrument track only, including a jBridged 32-bit Drumcore.
I inserted another Drumcore instance in audio-midi track combination and deleted the earlier instrument only insert and I got H in the console view back.
I don't know why it worked - maybe Xn doesn't like 32-bit instrument track only synths - but you may have some similar configuration details in your project and this might work for you too.

Hmmm, the project I was working on at the time of this post was started using a template that I created in X2 so that me be it. I'll check on Friday night when I get home. Thanks for the advice.

Try building an exact replica of your template, but as a starting point, use the blank one from X3

I did that and it worked for a couple of hours then quit on me again.

I've been experimenting with this, and it seems to work properly when starting with a new project.

But I loaded up an older one and not only did it not work, it crash Sonar twice, just by toggling between Track & Console View (just by clicking D) and switching Track Manager on/off each time by hitting 'H', making a couple of changes and closing it again.

I'm not going to bring it up with Cakewalk until I see it happening in a new project

I'll try it on my other machine when I get a chance and report back, maybe tomorrow if I'm lucky

I found this thread because I have the same problem in X2 when trying to open track manager from the console view menu - nothing happens. Didn't know the H shortcut, so I tried that & it works - the track manager window opens.

Thanks for the solution!

it still doesn't open when selecting off the menu, but H is quicker anyway.

Makes me think I need to make the effort to learn all the shortcut keys in each view - I only use a few I have somehow picked up like T in PRV.

Cheers,

I'll chime in on this as someone who up until recently was still using 8.5.  Some keyboard shortcuts were so engrained in me, I didn't want to adapt to how the defaults in X3 have been reassigned, so I connected "M" to the Track Manager again, the way it was in 8.5.  I know M is now for Marker, but that was F11 in 8.5, so reassigned that one also.

Only problem is while M opens the Track Manager in Track View, which is usually the only view I need it in, if I go over to the Console View which I have open on my 2nd screen, M reverts to Marker.  Odd, and similar to what's being talked about on this thread.

It hasn't been an issue for me really, because I have the option checked in the Track Manager pop-up to have the TV and Console views in sync.  I don't want to see different tracks in the different work spaces, so that works for me.  But it is a bit hinky.

Dang - me too now!!

No sign of Track Manager in Console view at all: 'H' doesn't work, neither does the 'Track Manager...' option from the Strips dropdown. Both versions of the same thing DO work in Track View though.  >:(

Does anyone know whether this was a persistent happening or have I picked up a 'hide virus' somewhere?
