I'm sorry for my first post being one asking for help but I have no idea how to solve this one as I'm not very familiar with MIDI
 
I bought a m-audio keystation 49e and I'm attempting to run it in sonar 8 producer
 
as far as I know, all I need to do is plug it in to my pc via USB and sonar should recognise it?
 
but it doesnt :(
 
I tried installing the latest drivers directly from m-audio's site but I've had no luck..
 
any help would be greatly appreciated!! Again, I am new to MIDI so any solutions may have to be written in a way for me to understand haha

1) Be sure the keyboard is connected and powered on begore you start SONAR;

2) Click on "Options" --> "MIDI Devices" and you should see your M-Audio keyboard listed. Make sure you have it checked.

and i've been doing both of those things and theres nothing listed in the midi devices thats anything to do with my keyboard

I was expecting something like USB device or something but noooppe :(

What OS (XP, Vista, Windows 7, etc.,) are you using?

I'm using Vista :)

Do you have Vista drivers for the keyboard? I don't use Vista so I'm probably not going to be of much help...I know that M-Audio Keystation 88 was a simple plug it in and Windows recognized it (which is mandatory for SONAR to see it)...

yeah I made sure it was specifically the Vista drivers I downloaded

it's a bit of a weird problem to be honest, I hope its just something silly I'm forgetting to do

Does it show up in device manager?

32 bit, and I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for in device manager but it does say USB composite device..
 
that might be it? Nothing in there specifically related to the keyboard
