Hi there:)

In the net I found some articles which say that you can edit Audio with the CAL Language, but nowhere I can find with which commands. There's no command in the CAL Reference to do that or are these unknown commands?

Does anybody has got the newest CAL Reference or does anybody know about audio commands in CAL??

Thanks a lot;)
Basie.

P.S. I'd like to have some CAL Programs to decrease or increase the gain (1,2, and 3 dB)of a marked audioclip and to have a keyboard command. Don't know if it's possible to change the cal files in the keyb command section....
[Edit]
It is possible to edit the Standard Sonar Cal Programs and give Keyb Commands to them! So I could edit some of them, which I do not need:)

CAL as a language was only for scripting within Cakewalk software. There is no New reference as Cakewalk has not actively developing CAL any longer and hasn't for many years.

Here's a link to all the CAL data I have online. There may be something in there that can help you.

I scoured the web a while back for CAL stuff, not only routines but also documentation on programming with it, and have some doc I can look through to see if something like that can be done.

I currently have no idea, since anything I have ever done with it has been to midi data.

I will try to post something back by tonight, time permitting.

No audio processing in CAL that I am aware of but you can use a keyboard shortcut to call Process > Apply Effect > Gain. To create a shortcut search for gain in the Global Bindings area of Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Thanks, Mudgel!  I've downloaded and from looking at the list of CALs, I'm pretty sure I don't already have all of these.  Very cool.

Some CALs I already have come up non-functional, but others still work, it's always an adventure to try them out.  CTRL+F1 is always used at least once or twice when I'm working on a piece (keyboard shortcut to the CAL folder) - good old Random Time is a great starting point if there are spots where quantization had to be used and you need to get it mussed up.

Thanks for the share.

HI:)

@mudgel

I already have downloaded your CAL Files, thanks, very great:)But found nothing for Audio....but very usefull little programs for Midi!!! Thanks again!

@robert_e_bone

I found a lot of Help and Reference Guides for CAL, but nothing about Audio, perhaps I have to contact this guy, who talked about it, will be difficult to find this post again...

@scook

For sure I have STRG-G Shortcut for Gain! I often do some Voice Edits, "s", "t", "k" and other Gain Edits by hand, and you always have to hit STRG-G, then you have to choose how much db, then hit "Return". It would be very nice, to have schortcuts for:
-1dB,-2dB, -3dB, +1dB, +2dB,+3dB.
I've had a little external Programm to create Shortcuts, but this program doesn't work anymore since Win 7:(

When CAL first became available Cakewalk software was purely a MIDI sequencer. I'm not aware of any direct audio fn tins that are now or were available before but I don't remember any.

It's continuing function relies on Cakewalk's maintaining the hooks within the Sonar program. Sadly this isn't the case and many of the original calls that could be made through CAL are no longer available.

Cakewalk like many other programs would benefit greatly from a well integrated scripting language.

It would be interesting if someone from Cakewalk would give us a definitive list of which CAL hooks remain in Sonar and respond to calls from CAL scripts

I just tried AutoHotkey for the first time (running Win7). This script binds the WINDOWS+z key combo to -1dB clip gain

Hey Scook - That's pretty cool. I believe there have been some other users who use(d) either AutoHotkey or other generic macro/automation apps within SONAR. This looks good though and for those looking to automate routine functions that might be a stretch for CAL, the investment in time might be better spent learning/using this utility than CAL. If I am not mistaken, someone from Cake actually recommended something like this (Maybe this specific utility - I don't recall) -  a few years ago -
Cheers Scook - you are a wealth of knowledge and information.
