This card has limited functionality. If the listed amount of
playback channels is exceeded, or if there is other
significant traffic on the bus (DV cam, hard drive, etc) the
card will fail and will not work until after a reboot:

any idea what the 400 Mbps or 800 Mbps means ?  Do I need to be concerned about 32 or 64 bit? Would either of these cards work:

Tracey,
One thing to keep in mind, does the new motherboard have a PCI slot?
The ADS Pyro card I once used is a PCI card, it worked flawlessly.
I have a "newer" ADS Pyro PCI-e card, but I haven't had to use it because both my
Gigabyte boards have on board TI firewire.
In doing a quick search I see that the Pyro PCI-e card was discontinued back in May.
Many have/do use the Adaptec 4300 with good results. It is PCI, I'm not sure what the equivalent PCI-e card is.
I would stick with the TI chipset, but that's just me.

I have never had any success using my FW-1884 qith anything but TI chipsets.

This is what I'm using right now in my ASUS  mobo that has onboard VIA chipset (a no go).
