  • Why do track folders drag expand the actual folder portion??

I am not able to see what use that would be for my workflow.

I have a track folder, with multiple tracks, why would I want to expand the topmost portion of the actual folder?

I just can't see why.

I actually use it as a snapshot of the instrument folder.  If you don't need the actual waveforms for editing, but do want to see where things come in and out, that folder strip has colored lines or blocks where the audio is from within the folder.  You can use it as a quick guideline to see what is going on without having to open up all the tracks in the folder.

You can quick look to see where, for example, guitar 2 drops out and guitar 1 picks up, or if there is overlap in tracks within a folder etc.  Pretty handy.

That is pretty handy. I guess if you have a load of tracks in a folder, you can expand the folder, but not the tracks to save some real estate.

I always expand the folder because I don't have more than 10 tracks in a folder anyway. I have several folders, just not many tracks in them. I use the actual wave clips to do timing work instead of what you suggested above.

thanks for the reply :)

If you diminish the track folder header and save project with auto zoom on, reopen project and folder headers are enlarged…. Why
It’s not a screeset thing because I don’t use them… ever

By expanding the folder, you have a great place to write down any notes, pertinent information, etc... You can also see info on how many archived tracks you have, hidden tracks, how many tracks of audio, how many MIDI tracks. It is a great feature, very useful.

I agree with sevn450 and Sylvan :)
I just don’t understand why a folder header isn't the same size on reopening project. If you save project with auto zoom on.

Hope I'm not hijacking tread, if so I’ll start new topic.

I reported it to CW late last year (although, in my case I used screensets), and it was confirmed and submitted to development.

As for folders in the track, I don't want them to show the folder track name. Is it possible to edit (delete) the name of each folder in the track (using Clip Properties Inspector)? I'm not at home now so I can't check it.

I don't understand.

For me, the height of track folders always open in whatever state they were saved in, which for my workflow is always minimized.

Once you click on Auto Zoom, you must shrink each folder manually to it's minimum height and they will stay that way from then on

I bet your non-current tracks are also minimized. Make them taller and save the screenset. Then switch to another screenset and switch back. You'll see the issue.
